Does it make a difference? Tough call. It certainly didn't have any negative side effects... |
Malatesta have you noticed any difference yet? Did you use the same unlock code or a sprint unlock code? I wouldn't mind trying this, nothing could make the volume any worse than it is now.

The title should be corrected. It uses less compression on the voice signal, giving better quality. I did this like 6 months ago, but I think I need my MSL code to do it. from thrilsekr Quote:

Thanks for the info. I thought I needed my msl code. The volume is the one thing that drives me crazy. If I don't use my bluetooth I can't hear. You get the old "you got a $500 phone and you can't hear me. I got this thing running like a top except for that. I would pay for a program that would fix this.

Would this have any effect on the bluetooth headset volume/quality? as it is now i use the Sprint PPC-6700 and Jabra BT500 and I can barely hear anything both at full volume.. im always pushing the headset in to help.. Thanks!

It has made some difference on my unit, with conversations all the sudden going ultra quiet. but it will not increase the loudness overall. If your on sprint you will need your MSL (vzw leaves theirs blank, a la 000000) you can call for it, but you will have a hell of a time or you can try bitpim see this thread
oh, and this isn't exatly a reg hack either, you are actually chaning the settings of the phone chip |
i wanted to try this on my sprint ppc 6700 but the unlock code wasn't valid, any suggestions?
|
I got the MSL from Sprint when I got my PPC-6700 it's ##047842# If anyone needs it.
|
every code is unique.
its easy to get if you call sprint and simply say "i need to reprogram my phone please, its messed up" they will say "sure, first enter ##123456#" then feel free to just hang up because they just gave you the MSL. its not hard or tricky to get at all. this will work every time. |
thank you, sprint did have my number. got without problems
|
You can call customer service and ask for the Master Lock Code. Tell them you are re-programming your phone for another phone number, already did the ESN swap, and just lost the Master Lock Code.
BTW I work for a Sprint distributor, I won't say which one, but if anyone needs help with MSL's let me know. |

I'm guessing this hack is only for a specific phone?? I am trying this on my 700wx and I can't even pull up the screen when you dial the number given. Any info on this??
-Reako |
if you are with Sprint then you have to dial ##778# .. i was able to do it on the Mogul
|
Nope, that didn't help either. Mal? WideAwake? Any info??
-Reako |
Doesn't work on my Sprint 700wx either.
|
when you say tap edit can you elaborate on that please ? :?:
|
When you dial the number a seperate screen should pop up. Therefore giving you the option to manually tap the "edit" button that is presently available.

Doing these changes or any others to my phone, should I be worried about changing things back if I need to take my phone in for customer service for any reason?
|
Anyone know the difference?

When I do this, only my MDN and MSID information is shown... any ideas ?
|
From what i understand...leaving it on is the best option because if u dont, the voices can actually sound robotic and distorted if u r driving or around loud noises...and could than sound worse. It will only really be better if u r in a very quite environment and not moving...or else it could backfire and go from better to worse.
