Notifications over bluetooth headset?

One thing I apparently lost when I went to WinMo was SMS notifications over bluetooth. I had a Samsung M610 handset and a WEP-200 headset that would alert me to new texts, but I've tried the WEP, a Plantronics, and a Jawbone on the Mogul and Touch Pro and can't get anything but phone calls over bluetooth. I'm hoping this can be fixed with a simple reg edit, but I've searched all over and can only find info on disabling SMS "Message Sent" notifications; anyone got any thoughts?
