Mute my ringer please...

OK. Here is an idea. I have not run across anything that will do this.

Say I want to mute my ringer while the phone is still in my pocket. Since it is an inapproite time for a ringer I am eagerly searching my xv for the volume button to mute it. But I end up pressing every ding-dang button the durned thing. By the time it actually get it out of my pocket I have IE, notes, and everything else running. So my phone is so slow and waiting for imput from me that nothing will work. I end up missing the call, and make an arse of my self.

How about something that will mute the ringer no matter what button I push, and won't bring up the programs the buttons are set to.

That would be cool...

anything yet??

I've only had my treo 2 weeks and have run into that problem 4 or 5 times, I thought it was just me not being familar with it yet.

Same with text messages, even while in my hand no buttons open it or stop the ring tone, until the ring tone has finished.
(NOTE TO SELF::shorter ring tone for texts)

Uh...how about you use the mute switch that's on the TOP of the phone? Takes less than a second...

Pressing the end call button (the red one) when the phone rings stops the ringer too, fwiw. This is pretty normal behavior for all phones.

(Pressing the End Call button while phone is ringing is the same as tapping Ignore)

That said, it's probably a good idea to mute or vibe your phone before the meeting From the Today screen, hold vol slider down until the volume drops to 0, then Vibe checkbox is selected, and finally the Off (Mute, whatever ) option selects... so it takes about 3 seconds to mute or vibe the phone beforehand.

I was wondering if anybody was hoing to mention the mute switch on top...I work in a hospital, and use it everyday, It is easy, more than reliable, and super fast. (plus....even in your pocket, considering where the switch is, the worst mistake you could make would be ejecting your memory card)

Good luck!!

could try voice command.
Just say "Set ringer vibrate" and it will mute your ppc right away.

This may or may not be helpful....

This is from Zbop over at TC:

Want a quick and simple way to temporarily shut-your-phone-up?

Introducing Silencer, a new today plugin that allows you to do just that.
- Have your ever used flight-mode expecting to silence your phone, only to have other notifications or reminders pop up and make noise?
- Have you ever turned the volume all the way down or used a profile setting to turn it off, but then forgot to turn it back on?
- Ever been chased by Jack Bauer into a dark warehouse and hit the slider switch to mute your phone, only to have that damn loud Treo-vibrate give away your position?
(okay maybe this ONLY happens to me...)

Anyways, Silencer is a very simple today plugin that silences your phone and then unsilences it after the time period is over.

Headed for a very important hour-long meeting that can't be disturbed? Tap Silencer and then "Silence 1 hour", and it keeps the sound off for 60 minutes, and then automatically restores the volume back to it's previous levels. Finally get some "alone time" with your sweetie and you need 15 min... uhh,err.. 90 minutes of undisturbed time? Tap, tap and your done (with the phone that is).

Silencer also doubles as a date plugin, the key differences are (1) the icon and (2) the plugin is positionable on the today screen; the default one is not.

A windows installer and PPC cab install is attached below. Enjoy!
