compiling cLaunch or good today plug tutorial

i dont know if this is the right forum ... if its not sorry ..

im trying to code a simple today launcher that will use icons from an .exe with varying opacity (24 bit + alpha channel) for fancy anti-aliased edges and stained glass type buttons with more of a "native support" instead of a seperate icon skin and executable ... ive looked around a little bit for a tutorial on writing today screen plugins and didnt find anything that looked promising .... i also downloaded the source to cLaunch and the source to the plugin its based on ... tdLaunch ...

i tried building both cLaunch and tdLaunch in VS 2005 and following the instructions on MSDN for deploying/debugging a today screen plugin with the emulator but once i do the reg editing and i get to the part where "Sample" is supposed to show up in the items view of today settings ... its not there ...

if anyone knows what im doing wrong, or knows of a good today screen plugin tutorial so i can start over from scratch ... please let me know ...
