Testers Needed: Panoramic BGs for TP2!!!
 

I know a lot for you are ex-TP1 users and have recently become the proud new owners of a TP2. Those of you who are familiar with the TP1 forum, have most likely seen some of the great Pano BGs that z0mbiexx, triscuit1983 and other contributers are putting out for us. (Check out there work here) I don't know about you but me being a new TP2 user would love to see a forum like that here in the TP2 section.

That being said, triscuit is look for testers. You can download the test file below.

Triscuit's TP2 Pano test v1

Basically, save the cab to your TP2. Run the file and it will tell you to restart. Click ok and allow your device to reboot. Uninstalling from Remove Programs should restore. Please report back any issues.

First of all, big thanks to Rotastrain over at XDA for getting this started, and z0mbiexx for finding it.
And obviously all the testers. I do not have a TP2 yet, so you're the only means for me getting this done.



The reason we're in testing is I want to fix the Hero icon scrolling along with the Tray icon. So far, the only development out there has left this the way it is. But I would like to see it work the same way as the Touch Pro pano found on z0mbiexx's thread here. Basically, I would like the Hero icon to stay centered as you scroll.


Also, there is a little gap on the bottom of the image when you are not using curtains. I'm hoping to make an adjustment to that as well.

• Reset your wallpaper back to default settings
• Install one of the mods. (Now in testing)
• Install a background (Even though we're in testing, I will take requests)

While using panoramics DO NOT UNINSTALL THE ORIGINAL MOD.

To switch between backgrounds, you should first uninstall the previous background (I say "should" because you don't have to, but I recommend it for a clean install/uninstall) and install the next.

You do not necessarily have to restart the phone for the install to complete.
When it gets to the restart the phone screen, you can press cancel, but for the install to complete, TouchFlo must be restarted.


Here are some backgrounds to test, just to make sure it does what it’s supposed to do. There are also some throughout the thread.(The attached cabs do not include the original mod.)

so far it appears to be working fairly well with the Verizon TP2 with TouchFLO 3D version 2.1.38420.2

Comments, Suggestions, Complaints:
1. When used with the No Curtains cab it does leave a line on the bottom of the slider, see pictures
2. Even with the new background image you can still see the stitched image lines, not a big deal IMO
3. Once you have applied the new wallpaper you should either restart TouchFLO or soft reset the phone for the changes to take effect
4. When scrolling through the slider, the icons move with the background, and they become cut off in the beginning and the end, not a big deal either IMO

So far so good for me...

Started with the Spidey Base... Took Perfectly...
Then Installed the Face to Face... Took perfectly...
Uninstalled Face to Face and then installed Trippin Balls... Took perfectly...
Finally uninstalled Trippin Balls and the device restored to the original layout...

I'm having no issues with the TP2 Panos... Of course I'm on the Stock ROM... Custom themes and ROMs will obviously differ, depending on how they were preconfigured...

What is your manila version. You should be able to see on the settings tab. I would be info (maybe). I don't have one so I don't know.

Okay. Is that stock manila? Or did you "upgrade" from a lower version. If its an upgrade, I might need someone with a lower version to see if it works for them. Otherwise, it will be stated that it only works for manila version 2.1.

Not quite sure if thats how its designed or if its a flaw... Icons are are not centered when scrolling. Kinda cool that they do it though. Seems to have issues with background when scrolling though. I can see "seams" centered between internet and photos and at the end between settings and stocks. Installed Test v1 and kappa space. Same version of manila (2.1 etc)

I think the seams may be my fault. These backgrounds are actually ones that I created already for TP and had to piece together and re-edit. I'm going to go back and edit the Kappa Space with a fresh (not pieced together) image.

As for the icons not centering, are you talking about the heroes or tray icons? And are they moving up or down?

Do you have any of the same things happening with the icons? The vid you posted doesn't really look like there is a change.

The heroes are Sliding much like the background. The Home icon starts out on the left and they move to the other side. By the time I slide to Settings its oriented to the far right. Its cool except the Home and Settings Icons are kinda cut off the side of the screen.

Also when going to all programs, the text for all programs is black and conflicts with the background. Side effect at most, just difficult to see. maybe if a opacity setting was changed it could make it easier to see. Sorry I dont have screen shots yet but ive had the phone for a cumlitive of 3 hours now... lol

Edit: OK so I just watched the video and that one is doing the same thing. Not really an issue except the icons getting cut off slightly. I guess it is doing what it is supposed to do. Just surprised me I guess

Yeah, I'm experiencing the same... The seams I figured would get worked out once we finalized testing... As for the heros, I believe it did the same on the TP... It's just that the first and last tabs, since they are at the edge of the Pano, get chopped a bit...

There are slight "seams" that you will see. That is because pano is made up of three separate images that are put togther. The seam should be barely noticable. This is how pano is supposed to look. Or at least this is the goal.

This is why I need the TP2, I can't test it myself. But, we are making a little progress here. Just gotta work out the kinks. If you're willing to stick around and help, I think we can get this figured out.

*I just noticed that the panos that rotastrain made did the same thing with the icons. And looking at the files in the cab, there are only a few files that are different than the cab for vga panos. Maybe tweaking the vga manila files will be the fix. I just uploaded a new test cab on post #2. And I'm working on another one as well.*

i know there will always be seems in the images, i just put that in there so other people will know the seems are going to be there.

i removed version 1 and installed version 2 but did not notice any changes.

EDIT: I just tried version 3, the icons stay in the correct location but so does the background

i downloaded the v3 cab installed to device, restarted device, and when i slide the background does not move. the slider and slider icons work, and the shaded background that pops up when you touch the slider is gone, but when i slide it has not effect on background..

also when i uninstalled, it add the bottom curtain back to my device.

Cant wait for this to work.. I used Zombie and Triscuits work on my TP1.. Those Transparent backgrounds were the bomb.. When this is up and running Triscuit I would like that Black Spiderman and the Coyote and RoadRunner backgrounds for my TP2. Thanks for coming to TP2 forums with this..

I tried something new to get rid of the line on the bottom if your not using curtains. Kind of bumped up the size a bit. Don't know if it will work or not. If something is screwy, let me know and I'll adjust.

Also, I made another test cab v2.1.

As of right now, it does work, but with minor bugs, like the ones your seeing with the icons, and the gap on the bottom when you do not use curtains. As I noted, none of the WVGA development has a fix for the icons yet.

I tried your program on my TP2, Sprint, with the Kappa Space and it looks and works great except when I run the slider all the way to the end with Settings, there is a gap down the right side about 1/4" wide???

As of right now I do not know.:scratch: That is why we're in testing. The original mod test cabs are uninstallable. So if something doesn't look right, you do not have to use it. I just ask that if you do test, please add your input so that we can work out the kinks.:)

this doesnt work with energyrom... i flashed to 6.5.1 and tried to install v2, and v2.2 then installed face to face cab and nothing happened, anybody else run into this problem?

i also tried to use hdwalls, when i first flashed, the day the unlocker came out, and it messed my clock all up to the point i couldnt even see it , i had to reinstall a clock to get it to work. Im supposing theres something within the rom that doesnt let this work, dont have clue to what it is though.... like i said before, after install, it doesnt do anything...

Okay, I don't think that one has what we need in it. Try 2.1, so far that one has worked best.


Note - I pulled 2.2 for now to work on it.

I'm going to have to look more into the Energy ROM issue. I'm not sure what he puts into his ROMs that cause it to not work with certain apps and mods.
This is Rotastrains thread over at XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=545470. Maybe his cab will work for you (Rotastrain Panorama with retractable slider.cab).
It is a bit different than the ones you'll see over in the TP Pano thread. Which is why I'm trying to tweak it.

But its hard because I have to rely on others for testing. I didn't develop this, Rotastrain did at XDA, but nothing else has been done with it since August. I guess they considered it perfect. Maybe I will to eventually.:)

I have a Verizon TP2 with WM 6.5 and Sense 2.1 in the new stock ROM. I tried both v2 and v2.1 and neither worked correctly. I could see the pano background initially, but then it went into a loop between the Sense Home page and the HTC boot screen. This may be a conflict between a progam I have on the device to switch between SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.3 and Titanium and Sense 2.1.

I'm not sure if Sense 2.1 works with this. Not developed yet. M2Walt made a Sense 2.1 vga pano. I can hit him up and see what he can do. I'm actually gonna be getting back on this since I'm getting a TP2 finally.

Are these made the same way as when we were making them for the tp1s (aside from sizing?) If so please let me in on the sizing so I can contribute once again!! THanks!!

oh and is this working for the manila 2.5.2012 yet?
