Taskbars for 6.5 8-22-10
 

EDIT: I know these taskbars work on 6.5. I know they work on 6.5x...with a slight hiccup, when installed it borks the 6.5x soft keys in SMS and Email screens. Either Duplicate menu icon over send/delete or duplicate menu icon.

So. until I can get it worked out on all the taskbars this thread will be named 6.5.





Alright, so I have been messing around and looking for taskbars that work with MY phone.

So I know these taskbars will work for me.


I have tested each of these Taskbars on 6.5 and 6.5x roms.



Nothing is guaranteed, sorry.

I will help if I can to get any working on other roms, but I will probably need some of the dlls from the rom that has the issue.

I am posting them because I think there are users out there that want some options besides CMYLXGO, TSOWEN, GadgetFreak, and Grzegorz10.

Does that mean those others are old or outdated, no. But so many other people have them that it is hard to make the home screen pop out from others posted.

Maybe it is just me, but I wanted some other options as I like batteries that pop out at you, and HawaiianPunch Man's battery does that, Steve0007 Elgancia rom, and ArtieQ has a battery that I haven't seen too commonly either.

If you don't like these, cool, but I don't claim any of the artistic credit or original ideas. I just wanted them to work on my phone and they do so I am content.

None of these taskbars are my original creation. I have modded them to work with current roms and on CDMA TP2.

These are taskbars from ArtieQ, Bilbobrian, Dinik, and Steve0007

Most of the TBs were for GSM and missing the CDMA_RSSI_PPC dll and so I needed to make or replace the signal bars. I also needed to go in and find the Ev and 1x icons and put them into the correct spot for our TP2's to show them correctly.

ArtieQ: I don't know if that wait cursor is originally created by dafunk, but ArtieQ used it.

I do know there is an issue with the battery. I have had it show the stock battery when first installing and soft resetting. The modded battery will show up, I promise it will just take a literal minute. I don't know why.

Bilbobrian's Taskbar 2: I did yank the Dusk Wait Cursor for this, I think it goes better than Windows default cursor.


If anyone is having issues with the volume on YouTube or the Music Tab WFG has found a fix for it. Here it is. make sure to Thank WFG for the fix.

Dinik: nothing really to mod other than to put in a Dinik Windows Square for the cursor to finish this fine TB off. I like that it doesn't spin but the colors jump to the each position. Try it out it is pretty cool.

Steve0007 @ XDA has made some great mods and I wanted this one for the TP2, he creates for the HD2.

I know not a ton of screens, but it keeps the default Win Cursor and does not change start icon. This is the TB I use most often even though I like darker themes.

This last one is called Metro Taskbar. I do not know who created it, but I like how it keeps a stock feel, but the slight change in the icons lets it stick out.

I found this on XDA, if you know the creator please let me know and I will give them their due credit.

Kind of a small wait cursor, but I think it fits the TB just fine, besides if you roll on a sweet rom you need not worry too much about loading. :D

Puff601 gave me the files for a glass HTC volume and a dll that works for him for the wait cursor. Get the Puff601 Dinil 1.5 TB HERE make sure to Thank Puff601. I can confirm working on 6.5x, but not on my 6.5 rom, will look into, probably need the reg edits that Puff601 was kind enough to give me and I forgot to put in

great work dapmonkey4u!!! i have gotten much pleasure from using these,it's nice having even more options for our phones,and your right some tb's pop out more than others especially depending how you set things up,i like things fluid and matching,these help me with achieving that look im after!!

Anyone want a Superman Battery and a Superman Signal indicator?



Looks like CoryNat noticed that the Metro TB borks the 6.5x SMS and Email Soft keys. They work, but have the incorrect icon over them. Odd because the Windows Theme controls the icons that appear with pngs in 6.5x and the TB doesn't mess with those.

If anyone knows why let me know and I can fix it, if not I will try and take apart a 6.5x TB and replace with the MEtro icons.

Dinik never skinned the wait cursor in his taskbar. I decided to do it, since the tb was awesome looking and thought everything should look good. I took his Win Flag and spread it out and there you go. I posted on his thread, but never responded to it.

I think my new fav taskbar is the Bilbobrian's Taskbar 2. I liked the metro at first but Ive been using Bilbobrian's all day and its growin on me. Great job!!!!

One of my favs too....who am I kidding I enjoy all of these that is why I modded them.


If anyone sees any older TBs or GSM only TBs let me know and I will look into bringing them to the TP2.

So I was messing around on the The L3GION 6.5x Red Ark Rom tonight and that rom does not like Metro and ArtieQ. The Speaker does not skin. Also the Brian Taskbar 2 does the same thing as the metro in the SMS and Email tab. Looks like I will need to rebuild them.

It is not a huge deal, but little things like that kill me, especially when I mod some of the windows themes and that Reply or delete soft key stays blue or white....F@$K I hate that and I have torn the themes apart and just skinned the delete with a pink to see if it changed and nothing...

cool, that cursor looks great. but, im having a wierd issue with your dinik taskbar :( the battery is all screwed up :( the tb shows the wrong % . check out the screen shot. it usually between 1-12% but when i click on the taskbar, the notification menu shows the correct %. hope i didnt confuse ya lol in the screenshot, im actually at 32%.

First off, I love that BG.:occasion5:

Second, Sorry I ran that TB yesterday and never had any issues with the battery. I know Seesser and a numerous others on XYC's Dinik thread never mentioned it. All I did was change the shellres.192.0409.mui file that has no effect on the battery. I also don't let my battery get down to 32% very often.

All I would suggest is to uninstall soft reset and install again. Let me know if it continues and I will take a look into it with my own phone and run the battery through the percentages.

lol thx man, thats my fav bg. i can post it if you want it. could you possibly post that shellres file? i reinstalled it a few times and that didnt help. i also reinstalled diniks and it didnt have the issue. i will try a diff 1% driver next.

@ the guy with the voicemal icon problem, mine works fine

not too hard, I can grab one of his newer ones and just add the one dll I modded. Try and get that up tomorrow.




I can post the dll. shellress192.dll and the phcanOverbmp.dll which is the battery icons. The Wait cursor is in the shellres.192.dll in the Bitmap section. in the phcanOverbmp.dll the last section of the icon group section is the 1% battery icons.

These are signed dlls so they will be accepted by the phone, but I would do it in cab form. Alot easier!

If you want to change anything in the dll unsign it first then mod the dll and then sign again.

Awesome work Dap, you think you can conjure up some bottom softkey bars for 6.5.x? I love the one in your first post, but I can't find it as a stand alone bar. It comes as a whole theme from pewter at xda.

Aaaahhh, this explains your specific interest in the taskbar icons! :) These look great, I'll have to give them a try! I guess you already have, actually. I guess they all work with SharkieROM?! Sweet, if so!

That bar is a SharkieROM exclusive mix by me. You won't find it anywhere but SharkieROM ;)

hey i seemed to have solved my issue with the battery percentage. i installed diniks tb v1.5 then copy and pasted the shellres you made into windows. now everything is fine. the version of the tb i used is attached below.

Great job dapbmonkey4u, its funny cause I created the Dark Crimson out of an inspiration from Bilbobrian's Taskbar (with permission of course). I followed it with the Bilbobrian's 2 to match.

Since you have tested my themes in the past and you have thes taskbars here... perhaps you might want to test it out... I need testers.

I'm using the metro taskbar on mightyrom and my speaker icon and battery icon is still the same.

do you know how to pull dlls from a rom? If you do I need the phcanOverbmp.dll

Try this dll for the speaker and let me know, if it does not work then please pull the HTCVolumeControl.dll from the rom.

Either I can't find phcanOverbmp.dll or it doesn't exist.
I found HTCVolumeControl.dll but the .cab fixed it so I guess you don't need it.

hey dap, can you do me a favor and integrate the attached taskbar files into one cab for me? could you include the following?

1) remove the htcvolumecontrol.dll from the taskbar cab so that the taskbar uses the stock dll
2) change taskbar reg entry to:
HKLM/SOFTWARE/HTC/VolumeOverlay/LoadIconFromResDLL/ = "1
3) include your shellres.dll you made for that taskbar

that is what i do to get that taskbar to work on my stock sprint 6.5 and includes the matching overlay ;) its a PITA installing all of it piece by piece though...

ha i didnt know you took request... i would like the metro taskbar with just the taskbar and not the wait cursor or the theme (where it changes the look of my file explorer). I actually dont mind the wait cursor its just the theme i would like to get rid of

Don't know if you are looking to add additional taskbars or not but I've got another one if you are. I've got BilboBrians original "Black & White taskbar" (see thumbnail) from xda that went 24 pages and something like 40+ attachments and was confusing as all hell to figure out what to download and install to make work.

I've cab'ed it up into a single cab file, including the necessary notification fix, appropriate E and 1x fixes and Bluetooth icons. It uses the standard/built-in wait cursor because I haven't messed around with modifying the dll or putting in a different one and messing with the registry.

If you want to add it to the first post, please feel free. All I did was take BilboBrians work and consolidate it into a single cab as it was getting too messy and hard to track in that thread.

To the best of my knowledge. Once I've installed it I haven't seen the stock battery yet, ever. You obviously need to have a 1% driver (goes without saying...don't know why I just said that :mrgreen:)
