I have had this problem in the past, only thing I could do to fix it would be to delete that account and set it back up again.

YOUR BEING PHISHED!!!!!!!!! you should never get anything prompting you to re-input your password to accept an email... YOUR BEING PHISHED!!!! They, the spamer, is trying to get your info... delete account from your phone.. go into your desktop and change your Pword on your email account right away.. then re-setup the email account on your phone...

its probably because the email was setup needing authentication, or the check box that says remember password wasnt checked. But the answer is still the same, just delete account and re add
