Re: Watching Movies on HTC TP2?
mp4 will work best bc you can use the hardware acceleration with htc album and winmo media player. with tcpmp you should be able to play most other popular formats like avi. how this helps

Thanks for the reply JER! Well, my friend downloaded Ninja Assassin and burnt it to a DVD... I then copied the files from the dvd. I also tried downloading an AVI movie. I converted them to MP4. Also tried AVI, 3GP, and WMV formats but nothing plays them. I've used Any Video Converter and Clone2go DVD Ripper. I notice there are several mp4 output options available for different phones/devices. I don't know which one to choose! I always get "unknown format!" Also, a while ago I used the program CLEARTEMP and accidently deleted a file called album.ink or something like that. I think it was just a quick link. I can still access my album through Sense but could that be why it's not working for me? Last edited by EnergyFlow; 03-30-2010 at 06:39 PM. |

Re: Watching Movies on HTC TP2?
I have been using the divx player and it seems to be working well. The audio stays in sync and does not skip or stutter.

Re: Watching Movies on HTC TP2?
Find and download "Total Video Converter," and convert your VOB or AVI files into an MPEG. Proceed to play with CorePlayer or Windows Media Player.
If I could be of any assistance, please press thanks! [: |

EDIT: MPEG2 doesn't work... I guess it has to be MPEG1. Only thing that attempts to open it is CorePlayer but it only plays about 5 seconds of the video and then keeps on looping it over and over again :/ *PULLS HAIR OUT* CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR! @Kylelerner: Did you mess with any of the Coreplayer settings? Re: Watching Movies on HTC TP2?
Maybe you need to adjust your file output settings on whatever converter you use. You can play 320x240 and 640x480. I'm not sure if 720x480 WS works or not as I haven't tried it. You should also keep the bitrate to a moderate level. Making it too high can make it unplayable.
The video should be mpeg4. Certain encoding programs use specific mpeg4 codecs for creating the video stream such as XVID and DIVX. The output file will be MP4 (display as MPG or AVI) but many video players wont be able to recognize them unless the specific XVID/DIVX decoder is installed. This may be why you are having the problems you are. When you choose MPEG4 make sure it isn't DIVX or XVID etc. Use plain ol MPEG4 video . 15 - 25 FPS is good. Any more and the videos are sometimes choppy. Don't use Windows Media Player to try and play them because it is painfully slow at doing so. Make sure the audio portion is either AAC or MP3. PCM WAV will work but it will make the files abnormally large. Also, don't use odd bitrates for either audio or video. I have found that the less frequently used bitrates don't work in half the players I have tried. If you can, use a constant bitrate, and not a variable one. Again, some programs have problems opening files with variable bitrates and either will play them messed up or will give an unknown error. |
