It really is a catch22. Sprint service sucks so bad that I absolutely refuse to use it.

I had a free Sprint phone for almost two years & it was damn near unuseable 1/2 the time.

I switched to verizon (which I DON'T get for free) & the service is great, but now I have to live with their crappy selection of phones.

I am not unhappy with my highly tweaked XV6800, but if I could get a touch pro I would have it tomorrow......

i guess verizons answer to you is to utilize the new "open development." if you dont want the phone theyre offering you then just buy one that has what you want (i.e. sprint touch pro) and you can use it with them then.

and its much easier said than done. you gotta deal with: full price of touch pro...activation fees...time it takes to actually activate it (basically flashing the phone, but they say it can take up to 3 weeks!).

+1 John. Where I'm at Verizon is the way to go for coverage. Sprint's service here doesn't even compare. both my sis and her husband switched to verizon because they couldn't use their phones when they were inside their house. I have full signal in their house.

It's the same way around here. One of my co-workers (we do IT work) has a Sprint phone (soon to be swapped for verizon). We have a two story building & I can always tell when he is in his upstairs offfice as his phone ALWAYS goes to voicemail (my phone has full signal strength everywhere on the property).

I am no big fan of verizon, they are arrogant & their rates are ridiculously high (I just love how they charge the highest rates in the industry & then want ANOTHER $10 a month for GPS....). The problem is, my phone is very highly tweaked but it is not a toy to me. When I need to make a call, I need it to work correctly 100% of the time. I have used every service at one time or another & the only one that is close to 100% dependable is verizon.

Alltel is better than Verizon but unfortinately they are being assimilated.

The rumor was that it wasnt going to be the same. some things are supposed to change such as the memory. however rumor is they are supposed to be getting the SE omnia which looks to be pretty nice. I guess we will see. If only they had made a cdma version of the touch hd.

Are the current devices that Verizon and Sprint offer that much different as far as memorey, ram as well as features?
