Re: Slow texting - laaaaaaag
It helps if you turn off predictive text. That made a large difference for me. Also, the longer your phone idles without being at least "soft reset", your RAM will be used. If you can free up your ram, the text messaging speed will increase. BTW, it's not just a lag in text messaging, it would be a lag on any screen you type in.
I am currently using a custom ROM based on no2chem's Nuerom3 Pre3 and have approx. 25 megs of ram free at boot and idle at around 17 megs free. I have very little lag in text messaging. I have tried it with predictive text on and off. With it on, I see a tiny bit of lag, especially on the first couple of words. If I turn it off, I see no log at all. If I notice lag, I soft reset and all lag goes away anyway. So my suggestion to you, be careful of the number of programs you have loaded at one time into ram, soft reset at least once a day, turn off predictive text, flash nuerom3 pre3 with the 52meg program memory area. Good Luck. I do notice you are using NueRom3 already... if you are on pre3 (or pre2), it is based on OS build 20748 which has had some issues with POutlook anyway. As far as not marking all messages read automatically when you open a threaded SMS. That is my #1 complaint about 20748 is the not auto-marking every message in a threaded SMS read. I have to scroll them all to get them to mark (like if I receive 3 in a row from the same person..) Let us know!

Re: Slow texting - laaaaaaag
I have every text from Feb 2008...Should I just back them up? If I purge them, aren't they all deleted?
Thanks for the purging tip. Please let me know how you go about it? Do you just use Dashwire to keep a log of all your texts? by the way, I am dying to true nuerom3 but afraid it will mess something up...may just wait for it to be officially released |

Re: Slow texting - laaaaaaag
I've found that if i turn off the predictive text as mentioned above and i wait just a second before typing my isn't to bad. you can also turn off auto correction, that helps a little too. I'm running dcd 3.2.6

Re: Slow texting - laaaaaaag
If you have texts from Feb, that is DEFINITELY the problem. Back them up if you want. Pim backup will work. Yes, purging deletes. Mess around in the options in text messaging and you will see options for tools/clear text messages.

Re: Slow texting - laaaaaaag
Ya I turned off predictive but I really like autocorrect at the very minimum... and I did say I clear out my messages.. kind of a pain to have to do this all the time I wish there was some kind of a retention in pocket outlook to clear out messages after they reach a certain age or number.. even simple java phones have this functionality.
I think pocket outlook is just buggy and horribly inefficient in wm... There are some boots I don't do ANYTHING other than texting/pics/email and my free memory will go from 30mb free all the way down to 18ish.. that's just nuts! And YES I'm using Oxios. |

Pretty sure that was only to fix certain apps (like yahoo) that stuck the ctrl key on for the hardware keyboard... right?
