Hey guys! Damn I'm so excited, just had to share this!

INSTANT GPS LOCKS FOR VERIZON USERS!!!!!!!

Now we get what the Sprint users have had for so long. Assisted GPS!

GC14 who originally came out with the GPS FIX that was mentioned at the beginning of this post has changed the instructions a little bit, and has made the GPS assisted like the Sprint guys phones are!

You still have to use QPST and make sure all your check boxes are checked, but now you can add the IP address, and port numbers to make it assisted! GC14 ROCKS!

Now enough cheering, here's his post over at XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=423231

Locks are INSTANT, and if not only take a maximum of 6 seconds on my device which is only after a cold boot because it has to start my network connection. Seriously no more need for GPS launchers like BAF or ASTRO GPS if you don't want them. Your navigation / map programs will be able to fire up the on-board GPS instantly with no assistance. ENJOY!!!

I followed all of the instructions, from the XDA Wiki page. I can't get a GPS lock now (I could before I went to 2.03_002...but it was taking a 4 or 5 minutes.

What should I do now?

Radio: 3.42.50
PRI: 2.03_002

well, according to massive reply over at xda, it seems the aGPS functionality was working yesterday but is not this morning... I would stay tuned to the above-mentioned thread for updates on resolution.. kinda sounds like vzw locked down the server lastnight.

I don't believe VZW locked it down as my aGPS is still functional. We are looking into the problems though.

seems to be back up and running now... there was some sort of a connectivity problem to the servers early this morning though.

Hate to bring up this thread, but the link to the XDA site is dead. I was wondering the status of aGPS

aGPS is also short for "assisted GPS". It uses a server to help fire the GPS chip up faster.

I gotta say, this is a good move by Verizon.
