Doesn't sound silly at all to me. It was the first thing I tried... so if it's silly, them I'm silly. I gave up for a while and went to work. Now I'm gonna try a couple more times before I try a hard reset (since i would need one eventually). Thanks for trying to help

Edit: NueSPL finally worked. It was random. It was gonna be my last try and it just decided to work...

GA and anyone else who helped... You rock for this tutorial!!! I just took my first step out of NOOBdom and I didn't brick my phone... Thanks so much.

And thanks Puff for all your help with the unlocking. I really have no idea what was going on. I did the same exact thing I had done 10 times before and it just decided it wanted to work.

Good work Puff. I have been at work for 32 hours so I couldn't really jump in and help. I appreciate you jumping in here to help people out.

Attention Verizon users: When you finish flashing you ROM you will need to call Verizon for a new Akey. This is caused by upgrading the Radio ROM to a GPS enabled radio. You will only have to do this once. If you ever flash a new radio it will not cause a problem as long as it is a GPS enabled radio. You just call VZW tech support and tell them you had to hard reset your phone and now when you make a phone call your phone says VZW cannot authenticate your phone. They will issue you a new AKey. They will walk you through putting the AKey in. The steps are dial ##778 and send(if it does not work don't panic try ##778#). It will ask for a code. Enter 000000. Select edit. Select the menu in the bottom left and choose Akey. On the next screen you will enter the new AKey that they provide.

you might want to add that you have to call them from a DIFFERENT phone.. atleast they tell you to... i called from my phone and the lady refused to help me until i called back from another phone, she did give a very logical reason tho... just thought id point that out.

you might also want to add that if u are a verizon user, you can flash the new upgrade as long as you dont let customizations run.

great work on this by the way, i am sure it has helped many users. cheers

You have to call from another phone because they will have you make changes on the device while they are talking to you. That is to decrease call time so you are not saying hang on 15 times to apply the changes. Plus if you have to reset your device then you would have to hang up on your call and call back. If II am not mistaken, yu can't even call them when you need an AKey. As far as the MR1 update I don't plan to put anything about it in the tutorial because it breaks the funtionality of the GPS in 3rd party programs. It is a big pain to fix that, so I don't think it is a good idea to suggest it yet. The whole reason ffor the tutorial is to simplify the process.

I must flash via SD because Vista won't run a RUU otherwise when it gets to bootloader mode it says connection error. XP works fine though but it's easier from the SD card. :D
