Crash to bootloader issue

I have been playing around with various roms (kitchen, non kitchen, and the newest official HTC).

I flashed back to a kitchen rom and installed and started playing with iFone and PocketCM. I had been using it for a few hours and I was trying to add a contact picture in PocketCM and the device froze. I soft-reset the device and got the tricolor bootloader screen. I couldnt remember what the hard-reset combo was, so I was kinda stuck. (I am not sure if it would have helped anyways).

I tried removing the battery and softreset about 4-5 times over the course of an hour or so and continued to get the bootloader screen, but figured I'd just have to reflash once I got back home.

Well when I did get home the phone started up as normal (it had not been hard reset as all my data was there).

Has anyone seen behavior like this? or suggest how to prevent it and recover from it? (aside from it magically doing it itself)

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Crash to bootloader issue

Actually I have found everytime I softreset I get stuck at bootloader, then somehow at somepoint it softresets.

Has anyone experienced this, or no of a fix?

Thanks

Try re-flashing....it sounds like it may be a bad flash....

When the phone started up, was it connected to the USB cable? I have read that some particular combinations of incompatible ROM, radio, and bootloader can cause the device to only reset to bootloader except when attached through the USB cable to a computer.

Re: Crash to bootloader issue

The first time it reset automatically after about an hour. But have noticed that it seems to reset ok if connected to the usb cable AND connected to my PC, but at this point its just a theory.

Whats the best way to get the radios etc set to what it needs?

Re: Crash to bootloader issue

I have a feeling going from the official HTC rom 3.56 back to a kitchen version is causing the problem.

I have radio 3.42.02 and rom 3.56

Assuming you have the 2.40 or 2.47 bootloader, it may be an incompatibility in your kitchen build.

If you are a Sprint customer, reflash the official Sprint release; if everything works right, review your kitchen specs.

Enter BL to be sure which version you have......hold simultaneously......power + camera buttons and soft reset....it will bring up BL and you will see it....after that try out the PPCGeeks kitchen....as long as you have 2.4 or 2.47 BL...

to exit BL just soft reset....
