Re: I give up.

Ok. I think I'm pretty close to having everything where I want it to be.

I am on the VZ network. (I'm pretty sure because *86 takes me to my voicemail)
When I soft reset, I get the "HTC smart mobility" start up, radio is 3.42.02, the Sprint animated startup screen (is that normal?) and Windows Mobile Version 6.1 startup screen. When I connect to the data, it still says "Connecting to Sprint PCS", but I'm pretty sure that it's connecting to Verizon. (*228 connects to Verizon as well)
I know all the Sprint crapware is still in Programs, but I can live with it until I learn to cook my own ROM.

On to the GPS issue... The only program that I know of (and have) that can use the GPS is Live Search. Currently it tells me that "Sorry, we could not get your GPS position. Please make sure you have a clear view of the sky." I'm at work, in a brick -bunker of a building, so I'm not expecting to get a lock.
Is there any software that tells you GPS current status, satellites locked, elevation, etc...something Garmin-esk?

Ga. Medic, at this point where my phone is, should I convert back to the Verizon ROM that you've posted?

i really wouldnt recommend staying where youre at because who knows what your going to be charged at the end of the month, considering youre connecting to sprint's network. i recommend flash back to stock and relocking using the titan relocker (both can be found by searching). after that call VZ and ask for an a-key because you hard reset, and since it most likely wont fix everything, ask for a DMU reset.

alternatively, i heard if you have an extra phone handy (any will do, just a previous old working phone), after you flash to stock/relocker, you can go to your online account and attach your account phone number to that old phone. wait a little bit (10-15 minutes) and switch back to your xv6800 through your online account and wait another 10-15 minutes. run *228 and whatever else. this will supposedly give you a DMU reset, without calling verizon, or the need for a new a-key.

If he already has a GPS enabled radio (3.43.02) there is no need to go backwards. What is your bootloader. Put your phone in bootloader. If your spl is 2.40 or 2.47 then your are unlocked and you can go ahead and flash a custom ROM. The one I posted is pretty light weight and can be ran from your SD card or with a RUU that can be found in the FTP.

If you are not unlocked then go get the 2.47 and put it on your card and run it from the card. You can use the same method, put it on card and rename it TITAIMG.nbh and let it run. After you have unlocked (spl = 2.40 or 2.47) you can then load a custom ROM. Good Luck,

Incorrect. If he ran the 3.42.02 radio/ROM RUU, then it will throw him onto Sprints network. as far as i know, the only way to fix it is to revert to stock, and get a DMU reset. then, umm, not run customizations when upgrading:mrgreen:

Re: I give up.

Bootloader says 2.40.
Radio says 3.42.02.

I restored it to Verizon, unlocked and ran Sprint ROM but didn't let the customizations run.

My HTC Today window says Verizon Wireless. *86 takes me to my voicemail. I had to run *228 option 1 a couple of times before the data would work.

GPS works! I just needed a clear view of the sky to get a lock. Live Search works great with the GPS.

"Fun"...meaning customizing?

I'm pretty happy with HTC Today and the few apps I do use.
(VNC, Resco File/FTP, Voice Commander, TCPMP, Palringo, Internet Explorer)

I've been reading about the Garmin software, but it seems mere mention of it brings a scolding.

I saw the iphone ROM... It looks awesome, it's just not for me. That's why I have a PPC, not an iPhone.

What other apps do you recommend?

My only wish was if Voice Commander (or some other app) would dictate emails and txts and then send them.

nuguy: Thanks for being patient with me and helping me get to this point.

Someone should put together an abbrvieation list of all the accronyms. What are common terms to the senior members are like alphabet soup to the noobs.
