I give up.

Well, I managed to put a Sprint ROM on my Verizon phone.
I probably rushed through the education process. (I know, I should have read and lurked a little longer, but in my defense...I WAS SICK OF MY ALARM NOT WAKING ME UP ON TIME!)

So, everything is pretty much normal except my start up screen is Sprint, says I'm on the Sprint PCS network and I can't get on the data network.

This is the ROM I used: RUU_TITAN_SPRINT_WWE_3.35.651.2_RS_TITAN_3.35.04_4 350H_SPCS_AM_Ship.exe

I can make and get phone calls.

All I wanted was to be able to wake up for work on time and use the GPS features.

--------------------------------

I'm just too overwhelmed by the whole process.
This post leads to this thread that leads to this place...
Locked this, relocker that, pre-gps will brick with this radio...

You guys are very good at what you do. It's just that the forum has my head spinning.

I successfully updated my 6700 back in the day. But the 6800... I think I've met my match.

I don't want a ROM that is going to make my home screen so customised that it doesn't look professional. I just want it to look stock with the HTC Today big friggin clock and the smalleer icons for home, contacts, weather, etc.

I want all of the crap gone from "programs": "get good" "audible" "on demand"... I use tcpmp, vnc, resco file explorer w/ ftp, internet sharing, palringo, i might play solitare every once in a while, i send texts like it's my job and i might even send a picture message once in a while.

Having good descriptions of what each program does (in the kitchen) really, really helps.

---------------------------------

As of right now my Verizon phone is running on the sprint network?
I get crappy reception.

On the boot screen:
M 09
B 03

P DCAAXAM-4350H
R 3.35.04
D 3.35

The animated Sprint start up screen.

HTC Today reads "Sprint PCS" at the top.
I can't connect with data.

I'm looking for a patient person to help me out here.

Thanks,
Mike

Re: I give up.

basically what you need to do is create a custom rom and install a carrier cab for verizon wireless...i can do this for you but it will cost ya he he he

Hey Mike,
You almost got it all good, but you missed one very important step, you let the sprint customizations run. That hijacks your phone to the sprint network.

What you need to do is search for a thread in the titan upgrades forum by geckotek, search for 'stock verizon rom'.

About the 3rd post I have full directions, and all the files you need to get set up, geckoteks opening post also works.

Once you have done that, then reload the rom you have now, but poke the hole in the bottom of the phone to soft reset when you see the 'customizing your phone in 3 seconds' screen.

I REPEAT DO NOT LET THE SPRINT CUSTOMIZATION RUN, soft reset instead.

Then grasshopper, your true journey begins...

you know, yay4jugs brings up a good point. I am not sure if it will take care of you or not, but you could try the 'dcd verizon carrier cab'. you can find the newest one over at xda, or I will try to post the file here in a couple minuts.

If it works, it would be a simple cab instaall and no more flashing!

If I get the file up here it will have .zip on the end of the file name - it is not really a zip, just rename the file and delete .zip, then from your phone run the cab and reset.

If that doesn't work see my post above...

Re: I give up.

You updated your PRI with a sprint PRI by letting the customizations run. That carrier cab may have the PRI update for verizon in it (hopefully) and then you should run \windows\PPST.exe, otherwise you will need to search around for a verizon PRI cab and then run that file to fix it. Next time do NOT let customizations run on a rom from any carrier that is not your own....

Re: I give up.

nuguy: Thanks for your help. I am back to Verizon BUT, I can't make any calls, send txts or get on the data network. When I try to make an outgoing call, the Verizon lady says, "We can't authenticate your phone".

I'm going to have limited time to muck with the phone today because work is pretty crazy. I should have som time to work on it later in the afternoon.

Should I call and have VZ "authenticate" my phone or should I just work on the updates, get the sprint ROM on again (I need another step by step from here too...and NOT let the Sprint ROM run the customizations)?

Also something else I've noticed, in the boot screen it says:
P ACAAAAM-4070
R 1.30.60
D 2.09

I don't remember "P" being that long before.
I surmise that "R" is radio?

Re: I give up.

it sounds to me that either
a) you may need a new A key
b) you may need a DMU reset
you may have to call vzw tech support and say you did a hard reset and it cannot authenticate your phone. So ask for the A key first, but chances are, its a DMU thing. In either event, it shouldn't take you no more than 15 minutes to get up and running

Re: I give up.

I do want to "upgrade" to the Sprint ROM to get GPS, and internet sharing. Should I wait until I try to get that done before I call VZ?

Ok, I have some time to work on my phone. (Work has slowed down a little)

Am I at the point where I can just run the Sprint ROM and soft reset before the custominzations run?
Which is the latest ROM?

I just tried to run "RUU_TITAN_SPRINT_WWE_3.56.651.0_RS_TITAN_3.42.02_ SPCS2.04_PPST_0718_Ship.exe" and it said "Invalid Vendor ID".
My current Verizon Image is: 2.09.605.8
SPL 1.04.0000

So I have managed to get the sprint rom on, I can make and get calls, but I can't get on the data network.
I'm on hold with tech support. It says "dialing sprint PCS" but I'm not telling the tech that. it just keeps saying the username and password is wrong.

Re: I give up.

Duhgus if you go to the ftp I have a Verizon ROM that I put up for people to use. It is made for Verizon. The only thing it does not have is MMS. There is a cab in there with the fixed mms though. You are welcome to try them both. I have fixed numerous other people on VZW by doing this but I have an appointment to go to, so I cannot hang around to walk you through it. All you have to do is save the ROM to a sd card, 2gb or less, that is formatted to fat32. The file has to be saved on the root of the storage card, not in a folder. Rename the file to TITAIMG.nbh. Put the phone in bootloader (power, camera and reset at the same time). After going into bootloader just follow the steps on the screen and you will have a VZW custom ROM. If you install the cab for mms your MMS will work.

Re: I give up.

Ok. I think I'm pretty close to having everything where I want it to be.

I am on the VZ network. (I'm pretty sure because *86 takes me to my voicemail)
When I soft reset, I get the "HTC smart mobility" start up, radio is 3.42.02, the Sprint animated startup screen (is that normal?) and Windows Mobile Version 6.1 startup screen. When I connect to the data, it still says "Connecting to Sprint PCS", but I'm pretty sure that it's connecting to Verizon. (*228 connects to Verizon as well)
I know all the Sprint crapware is still in Programs, but I can live with it until I learn to cook my own ROM.

On to the GPS issue... The only program that I know of (and have) that can use the GPS is Live Search. Currently it tells me that "Sorry, we could not get your GPS position. Please make sure you have a clear view of the sky." I'm at work, in a brick -bunker of a building, so I'm not expecting to get a lock.
Is there any software that tells you GPS current status, satellites locked, elevation, etc...something Garmin-esk?

Ga. Medic, at this point where my phone is, should I convert back to the Verizon ROM that you've posted?

Re: I give up.

i really wouldnt recommend staying where youre at because who knows what your going to be charged at the end of the month, considering youre connecting to sprint's network. i recommend flash back to stock and relocking using the titan relocker (both can be found by searching). after that call VZ and ask for an a-key because you hard reset, and since it most likely wont fix everything, ask for a DMU reset.

alternatively, i heard if you have an extra phone handy (any will do, just a previous old working phone), after you flash to stock/relocker, you can go to your online account and attach your account phone number to that old phone. wait a little bit (10-15 minutes) and switch back to your xv6800 through your online account and wait another 10-15 minutes. run *228 and whatever else. this will supposedly give you a DMU reset, without calling verizon, or the need for a new a-key.

Re: I give up.

If he already has a GPS enabled radio (3.43.02) there is no need to go backwards. What is your bootloader. Put your phone in bootloader. If your spl is 2.40 or 2.47 then your are unlocked and you can go ahead and flash a custom ROM. The one I posted is pretty light weight and can be ran from your SD card or with a RUU that can be found in the FTP.

If you are not unlocked then go get the 2.47 and put it on your card and run it from the card. You can use the same method, put it on card and rename it TITAIMG.nbh and let it run. After you have unlocked (spl = 2.40 or 2.47) you can then load a custom ROM. Good Luck,
Ga. Medic

Incorrect. If he ran the 3.42.02 radio/ROM RUU, then it will throw him onto Sprints network. as far as i know, the only way to fix it is to revert to stock, and get a DMU reset. then, umm, not run customizations when upgrading:mrgreen:

duhgus 07-29-2008 09:02 AM

Re: I give up.

Bootloader says 2.40.
Radio says 3.42.02.

I restored it to Verizon, unlocked and ran Sprint ROM but didn't let the customizations run.

My HTC Today window says Verizon Wireless. *86 takes me to my voicemail. I had to run *228 option 1 a couple of times before the data would work.

GPS works! I just needed a clear view of the sky to get a lock. Live Search works great with the GPS.

glad you're up and running, now the fun begins...

Re: I give up.

"Fun"...meaning customizing?

I'm pretty happy with HTC Today and the few apps I do use.
(VNC, Resco File/FTP, Voice Commander, TCPMP, Palringo, Internet Explorer)

I've been reading about the Garmin software, but it seems mere mention of it brings a scolding.

I saw the iphone ROM... It looks awesome, it's just not for me. That's why I have a PPC, not an iPhone.

What other apps do you recommend?

My only wish was if Voice Commander (or some other app) would dictate emails and txts and then send them.

nuguy: Thanks for being patient with me and helping me get to this point.

Someone should put together an abbrvieation list of all the accronyms. What are common terms to the senior members are like alphabet soup to the noobs.
