Not true. Try comparing your stock rom to your updated rom, and you'll notice things have gotten progressively slower; stock has more free ram and faster response time than the latest nuerom or DCD out there. So that leaves me pretty pumped, the new rom from verizon means: 1. phone is covered by verizon again, support and product warranty 2. Faster speeds and more ram 3. GPS and REV A- anything is better than the GPS system we have set up now :P |

Re: Official Verizon XV6800 update and cost reduction!
Hi Guys, I apologize if this is a bit of a n00b question but I figure someone else reading this might wonder. Didn't see the answer in this thread or the one linked here.
Currently I'm running the stock Verizon rom - August '07. I just got this phone and was going to do a NoChem ROM to get WM 6.1, GPS, RevA, etc. My question is, it seems like this Verizon update could be "soon". If I choose to do the NoChem ROM / kitchen, etc - would I have an issue (you think, if it's theroetical) going to this new Verizon update if it's superior in any way? |

Honestly, the vzw update probably isn't going to be superior in any way other than you will have the ability to use (and pay for) vznavigator. Ideally, there could be some additional driver updates but those will quickly be ripped out and incorporated into these custom ROMs fairly quickly... and hopefully the vznavigator quickfix technology will be dissected and incorporated as well, we can only hope. Custom ROMs are almost always better than the carrier releases and usually if there is something better with a carrier release it is quickly adopted into custom roms so all in all, BETTER is almost ALWAYS be a custom ROM because they're updated a lot more frequently. no2chem ROMs are a different story as well, especially with a lot of his most recent development. nueROM is literally going to drastically change the way you use your titan and I think longterm every device is going to work better with his optimized ROM and the customly coded tools he has created. However, this is an alpha concept and there are clearly lots of releases and testing going in to get to that point... Which is SUPERIOR really depends on your needs and expectations.. if you expect the hottest new features and tools no2chem's rom will always be better... if you consider stability to be what makes a ROM superior, the vzw ROM will prob hold that ranking for a short duration after release until other ROMs can incorporate what it is that makes the vzw better. ohh.. and if you're only asking about if you can go to vzw update after installing a custom ROM then I apologize for all my mindless blabber and NO there is no problem with this... unlocking your phone only increases its abilities and in no way hinders its capabilities to update to carrier-released updates.

Re: Official Verizon XV6800 update and cost reduction!
^^ Thank you. As long as it can be upgraded to / from, that's most of what I was concerned about. I won't wait then and go ahead and flash the nueROM now.

Re: Official Verizon XV6800 update and cost reduction!
This update should enable AGPS. Thats when the cell tower tells your phone the general neighborhood its in, and the sats do the rest. Much faster lock. I wonder if it will take less battery to maintain a lock with that. Anyone with sprint found an answer to that yet?
Still not released. Verizon doesn't leak much,... thats too bad. Roger xv6800 |

Still impatiently waiting for this stupid update. I don't know if the possible strike held anything up, has anyone heard anything?
