Re: nueROM 2.2 Bleeding Edge General Discussion Thread

Hi no2chem, what rom build is the current nue 3.0? For your kitchen, is it for the ppckitchen placement or do you have your own build os included?

Ok I downloaded your kitchen but am clueless how to place it in the ppc kitchen. =P Any guidance on how to get it deployed would be great.

Update, got it to work by reading file paths on the kitchen config

So to add no2chems new nue 3.0 kitchen to the ppc kitchen, basically in the kitchens folder of the ppckitchen and make a new folder called NueROM. Now copy over all the folders from no2chem's rar'd up kitchen into the NueROM folder. Go into the no2chem_Titan_Core and copy nueROM3_Selections.txt to the Projects folder in the Build OS subroot and you are dialed in.

So file paths look like this. Take in mind I am using Vista x64 so if you are using 32bit os you will not have the (x86) in the file path.

For kitchen Projects copy nueROM3_Selections.txt to
C:\Program Files (x86)\PPCkitchen.org\BuildOS\Projects

For no2chems nue 3.0 kitchen copy all folders from his rar to
C:\Program Files (x86)\PPCkitchen.org\BuildOS\Kitchens\NueROM

Not working in Kitchen. Getting Unhandled exception has occurred.
Attempted to read or write protected memory.

I copied the selections.txt into projects and the folders into Kitchens. Did I miss something?

Comment out in kitchen_config.txt BackgroundImage=titan.png

You can do this by putting anything in front of the line like *BackgroundImage=titan.png

Kitchen_config.txt is found in the no2chem_titan_core folder

If you do this you will have no problems. The Unhandled exception has occurred is an issue with IE8 beta 2.

Re: nueROM 2.2 Bleeding Edge General Discussion Thread

Pre3 is pretty kickin. I'm curious what exactly was changed to allow the "extra" memory to be used? I read the earlier post on the site regarding the changes but nothing was detailed. I understand there was tradeoff. Looking for a technical explanation?

Thanks!

Donate folks! It's worth it now. I can't wait for the finished product!

I don't believe a technical explanation was provided but I remember reading a couple of pages back that the extra memory was liberated from the camera. I believe that no2chem is working on a way to easily disable the camera and free up more memory whenever desired.

Re: nueROM 2.2 Bleeding Edge General Discussion Thread

nuerom3 6095 is insane. its very barebone, but seeing what the mogul can do with the extra memory is crazy. i flashed and had about 32mb of memory free. i decided to test and see how much i could throw at it. so right after flashing i started up everything that was installed on it, everything... then i went to windowsmedia.com and started playing an mp3 while playing a quick game of solitaire and bubble breaker, then proceeded to downloading live maps and gps'ing my current position and the music was still playing without a hitch!

i didn't 'quit' out of any application and i was able to switch back and forth between webbrowsing, live maps, open / close, sync to exchange, check emails all while having 15 applications open at once with no slowdown at all and had 10mb's to spare in ram. i just hit end all tasks and it recovered to 28mb's of ram. dunno where the other 4mb's went but what a rush.. because this is how the titan should be.

no2chem, you and to all the community who helped, you all are incredible with all of this. i am ecstatic for a stable-public release. i gotta flash back to something with BT and camera unfortunately...

keep the donations going to the community and no2chem, these guys are making awesome strides!

You really have to read up on all the posts. But one way I understand the extra memory was freed up was by making the camera boot as disabled (not loaded). From what I understood is that it's an option to turn on later OR enable. Later on he wants to make it easier (with updated drivers).

Read the posts, you can only learn more!

cheers

Mikee, I donated on the site and downloaded the file for the release and it is an .rar file. I don't see the no2chem_Titan_Core and copy nueROM3_Selections.txt Where do I get those files? Do I unpact the file and the files are in it? Sorry, I am pretty new to the "build your own ROM" (actually 2 days now) ha ha Thanks for the help.

Yeah, I've cooked ROMs from the kitchen before and I've gotta say I still get confused with some of the stuff. That is why I just prefer to flash the basic ROM if I don't have to mess with the kitchen.

On another note, this ROM is incredibly speedy. I was like others and was unable to edit the pagepool value with pagepool changer (I saw where it worked for some and others got the "invalid file" error like me). All in all, it sure is nice to have all the free memory.
