PPCGeeks_OEM.rar fixes- 7/24/08: 00:35

In the updated PPCGeeks_oem.rar dated todays date, there are 3 oem's that have issues so far. The fixed oem's can be downloaded at the following links:

GemSwap game here

Mastermind game here

SPB Screenshot app here

Then just overwrite the same folder in the ppcgeeks_oem.rar and you will be good.

Yes the O2Plus oems' are quite old, but used to work fine on earlier bases. Not many people use them now, but we can take a look at them if enough people are interested. There really are much better Today plugin options now though.

Re: PPCKitchen OEM thread

OK, I built with the O2Plus, and didnt get a white screen but did get stuck on alignment screen with an unresponsive touch screen. So that confirms the O2Plus plugin is broke on newer bases. Without them updating the app itself, its kind of hard to make it work with newer stuff now.

I don't have it handy to post right now but I used the oemizer to build the O2Plus oem and it's worked fine on the 20226 build.

Re: PPCKitchen OEM thread

I have A few OEM's that I have reworked, all are compatible with 20226 and 20270:

IPhone Dialer has correct ETPhone.dll and does work with smartdial and ## codes.
iPhone Dialer (CDMA).zip

I have fixed the files in the Windows Live NoIM OEM so that the shortcut works and is placed in the correct place. I have uploaded the whole OEM, just replace the one in the PPCGeeks_OEM.rar
Windows Live NoIM.zip

I have changed the default setting in the OEM_HTC_Diamond_QWERTY so that the next word prediction is disabled by default. That is what caused most people to have that annoying wrong word prediction appear when they were typing on the keyboard. Unzip the file and copy it into the OEM_HTC_Diamond_QWERTY folder in the PPCGeeks_OEM.rar
OEM_HTC_Diamond_QWERTY.zip

I have fixed the YahooGo initflashfiles.txt so that the program is installed in its correct default folder. Simply copy the file into the Yahoo Go folder in the PPCGeeks_OEM.rar
YahooGo OEM initflash file.zip

I am going through the rest of my modifications, hopefully you will be able to implement these changes into the PPCGeeks_OEM.rar so that I do not have to keep doing it everytime a new OEM.rar is put out.

Thanks.

Thanks.
There is a reason the Yahoo initflash was the way it was. Now you have wasted whatever space those files consume by moving them to the Program Files directory. A lot of apps can be made to run in \Windows, therefore saving space by not having to copy them elsewhere. They all MUST start out in the \Windows directory, then if needed are initflashed elsewhere; leaving the original copy in \Windows. So anything that gets copied out of Windows directory is taking twice the space that the files would normally.

No, I have instructed those files to be moved to the correct place meaning they are no longer in the windows folder. Opening the windows folder can be painfully slow because it is full of files that could be put in their correct places. Program compatibility may also be improved if the files are where they are supposed to be.

Edit: I just double checked and I did use the copy command instead of the move command so yes, there are now two of each file in two different locations. It did leave me with only 85MB of storage space so I think I can live with that. It can still improve program compatibility because it is exactly where the cab file would install it to. For example. AstoGPS Launcher is a very good program for priming the GPS for YahooGo, If I created a shortcut to first start AstroGPS then launch YahooGo then the programs would need to be in the same locations for anyone else to use the same shortcut. I could write a shortcut for finding YahooGo in the windows folder but what if someone has installed YahooGo from a cab or even downloaded the app from the internet and installed it on their PPC, That shortcut would not work. If you adopt the standard naming convention and file structure that the original uses than there is no longer an issue.

Don't look at the Opera Browser initflashfiles.txt file then...initflashfiles.txt

You cannot move ROM files out of /Windows. All initflashfiles does is copy to another directory. There is not a "Move" command with initflashfiles. Now, yes you are copying the files to the locations that they exist in when you install from a cab and it will work all fine and dandy there. However, you now have two copies of each file on your device taking up space. If you can get it to run from /windows you only have one copy. Thus the reason to try to run as many apps as possible from the original ROM location of /Windows. Otherwise it is easier to just install from a cab.
