So is the new Sprint Mogul ROM out or not?
 

I was watching pretty close to these boards when the last expected ROM was supposed to come out about a month ago and it didn't happen. I check back from time to time to see. I've been looking around today and a lot of people talk like it has been released but the only one on HTC's site is the same one released in March. Posts like the sticky about the "Official Sprint.." thread just make it more confusing. So my question is has the "newest" one that has been anticipated been release or not?

NO it has NOT been released. The only one is a "leaked" version of which we cant be sure. When we see it on HTCs site then it can be a trusted off. release.

3.56 is the latest official from Sprint... 3.49 was an "official BETA"

So you accuse DCD of lying then? Did you look at the thread? When the official gps rom dropped I couldnt find it on htc or sprints but it was posted everywhere. I have faith when DCD says its the official release!

Just because its an official rom does not mean it isnt leaked. Yes that was a leaked rom. As of yet there is no official release via htc's webpage.

i guess by what you state yes I did....and it still hasnt been off. released.

No, but you've pretty much accused yourself of being stupid. You need to get your facts straight before flaming someone. When the GPS rom dropped in february, it was a leaked test rom that included the new radio necessary to enable GPS. That rom at the time it was leaked was NO WHERE on HTC's or Sprint's websites for download. Then a few weeks later HTC and Sprint released the official 3.35 ROM, hosted on their very own servers.

For insight into what I'm talking about, take a look at your own post. If HTC and Sprint were going to release an official ROM upgrade for their product, do you really think they'd release it to DCD, and not put it up on their own servers for download, especially for several weeks?? Think about it. Or go do some of that incredible sleuthing that you've touted.

The way you described blindly following DCD's word shows a lot for your character. I'm sure if he were to re-release the original 2.09 as the latest official Sprint ROM as a gag, you'd be all over it with devotion, and *TRYING* to discredit other member's posts.

Official, yes. Leak, yes. Release, no. Not until it's on the HTC web site as a public download. Therefore, even if Jesus Christ himself calls it an "official release", that doesn't necessarily make it so.

That's not to say that 3.56 won't become the official release. Afterall, the 3.35 ROM has a February date stamp on it and was published publicly in March, so 3.56 could very well be in final testing before release. Of course, it could just as easily be a "release candidate" (hence the lack of beta/test labels), and we may just see a newer build in the near future.

(Oh, and yes, I realize I'm going to hell for the blasphemous remark.)

The current leaked Version of both the Vogue and the Titan are not what Is going to be released officially... They are still just test versions. I have just received confirmation of this as of this morning. Target date for the Titan/mogul is 3rd week of july... Vogue is mid July.

Trying to steer the discussion back to the OP implied intent, I think the correct position would be more along the lines of.

1. The current rom is leaked from HTC/Sprint and has not been modified/hacked. Perhaps the best description is "unmodified HTC Rom". This differentiates it from all the other kitchen roms available.

2. It is not an "Official Release". IMHO, I would describe an official release as something you would be able to walk into a Sprint store with and not have a potential issue. If someone went in today with the 3.56 ROM, they stand a chance of getting the tech's shorts in a bind.

To call it "official" is simply (again, IMHO) misleading. There are many folks out there who like to stay on the leading edge, but only with release material. For example they rely on their phone for everyday work and NEED it to work (within reason). As such, they prefer to only use ROM's that are direct from HTC/Sprint and are supported by Sprint (i.e., an Official Release).

LOL.... Nothing I can do... I can say this is how it always works with Software in general... Just be lucky.. I have been waiting for an update for my prototype at work for almost a year... LOL... things could be worse... Granted I am medical and these are phones... But still... Anyways I am trying to find out what fixes/updates are in the current version being tested from what was just leaked... I could give a Rats *** about the Rom.. Bring on picturemail LOL

Will be real funny when "the official release" comes out and its 3.56 and 3.42. will be just as funny when it isn't i guess also. the way i see it is with all of the other releases they were claimed as being anything more then betas. this one is claimed to be official therefore i would assume this one is going to be official, he just got it early. its from a very credible source, DCD is well know on here, so no real reason to doubt its not official.

So this is the current Mogul release from the HTC Website

What version is this? It appears to be 2.09.651 which is a 2007 release. Does that mean the 3.35.651 release from 2/22/2008 was pulled because of issues?

Hey man, easy...
James was the one who correctly told us about the official 3.35 ROM. He even had it personally and uploaded it ahead of schedule. Look back at the older threads, you'll see I'm right. He says he has a contact in the right area of Sprint, and I believe him, because he has given me no reason to doubt him. And because he HAS given me reason to believe him (3.35).
While there are plenty of people who have been posting random dates because somebody's friend's mother's boyfriend's 2nd cousin said so, I for one don't believe that cj10488 is one of them.

Thanks for the confidence... As far as the Official update I found out semi what the differences will be...

Differences will be optimized software loads from what we see today with the current leaked version... Probably not too much to worry about but... Its still not official...

Vogue will pretty much be the same differences... Same software loads, and all the updates and enhancements that the Mogul/Titan got previous...

If you havent noticed I never said any dates nor will I until I get a date... Once I get a date then I will post one...

Well I can tell you they will not be that version... They might have at once been the release canidate however they are not any longer... Not saying I dont trust DCD but I do trust my contact.

I am surprised anyone thought this was the official rom that will be released to the public. For Starters, the Sprint TV cab is not in the extended rom. It has to be downloaded throught a link. Well this may not seem a biggy for us geeks, this sure is a bad idea for eveyone else. I have encoutered radio issues with this rom similar to 3.49. So yes it is from sprint but no it is not the final product.

If the final release does differ slightly from the leaked version that we thought was official, will Sprite Backup be able to restore onto it safely? And if so, the regular restoral or the upgrade restoral?

I really don't want to have to reinstall everything from scratch.

Just download it and run it already :). I got my new mogul yesterday(came full circle from 6700,Mogul,8830 WE,Curve,Instinct) and flashed the new"leaked" rom, called CS and they programmed the phone with NO ISSUES and everything works great!! Sprint TV, Nav, and really responsive. Installed SPB Mobile Shell 2.0 and few others with no issues. So quit wondering and just install it!! :)

well, I for one have issues with the new rom. the radio sometimes doesn't send my text message out eventhough I have full coverage in the my area. the same issue I am having with my exchange server that it sometimes cannot connect properly and sync errors. Went back to the stock rom 3.35 and dont have these issues. Other than that the new leak rom is much much better than 3.35. So sprint and HTC if you listening, please fix these issues with the new official rom.
