Thanks

If you go from a stock SPL (bootloader) to a GPS enabled SPL you will have to get an A key. No matter who made the ROM. Once you have a GPS enabled SPL you will have to use a GPS enabled ROM. So basically the spl and ROM types have to match. You can't use the stock Verizon ROM with a GPS enabled Radio.
WOW that sounds confusing and makes sense at the same time.

As far as the bootloader also called SPL is concerned you can use 2.40(olipro) or 2.47(nuespl). Use one or the other. No need to use one then use the other one as well. Either one will unlock the phone so that you can put a custom ROM on.

Yea, he was just having issues with installing nuespl at first thats why I told him to install olipro, then after flashing install nuespl.

C2: Sorry about the gender thing but no gender is listed on the profiles - don't like to make assumptions about such things and offend someone - either way. So - thanks again dude, major props to you for going the extra distance here - it is really appreciated. I come to Chicago occasionally for trade shows - I'll have to buy you a Coke, beer, shot, dinner, something.

OK, so how do I go about verifying the GPS functionality. Is there a self test - test program, etc...? Do I just use Google Maps or similar prog?

Any other thoughts on why the latest radio won't flash for me? So, again to summarize, via exe - get err 328 invalid cmd at 8%. SD card method - just goes into bl spl2.47 main screen - no new msg - just normal screen.

GA: what custom ROMs do you like to use? or do you cook your own? I didn't see a dir for you on the Titan user's ftp page.

Just use googlemaps or windows live (both free) click on the use gps and it should find you, you might have to go into the settings and try different coms, but "let windows manage" should work fine. did you try installing the leaked "official" sprint rom full install then install the custom rom over that? I am using radio 3.42 currently

Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom

So, google maps, checked the 'use gps' in the menu. Popped up '54KB. Seeking GPS satellites (0)...' So, I'd say it is not working.

As far as the Sprint ROM, I got it off this ftp site
Location: ftp://ppcgeeks.com/Titan/RUU/
filename: RUU_TITAN_SPRINT_WWE_3.35.651.2_RS_TITAN_3.35.04_4 350H_SPCS_AM_Ship.exe

If this is the one you're referring to, I don't know - it is the one I used however. Should I retry this with a different ROM?

I'm also having a hard time seeing my unit outside, even in shade. I've set the backlight to full - are there other settings that I haven't found that I should tweak?

the seeing the screen in sunlight is just a pain you will have to live with, i know it sucks, but usually shading your hand over it makes it good enough to make a call.

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=26119 has the unoffical rom.

when you boot your machine it should tell you what radio and what rom version you are using, what radio does it show.

Rom 3.49, 3.35.04 from Device Information
Splash screen shows the same too.
I'm downloading the T3.49.rar file from your link now.
So, you think I should re-flash with that one?

Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom

Got the 3.49 from your link - should I run it as an exe or just copy the nbh to my SD card and do the camera/power reset thingy?

Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom

ok - figured out that my SD card had gotten corrupted. Re-formatted and all images are being updated correctly. Did both the radio and the rom. Seems the rom is a beta. Hope that's not going to cause too many problems. And I did run them all off the SD card - no exe no activesync.

The g-map app says the gps is active but it doesn't seem to lock - I just get a pin/blue dot on a blank background. - Just tried again - working now - fickle bee otch. Locked in fairly quicklly - go figure - tried to load SBR's latest - but it failed in cfg looking for a Sprint file - so I loaded Ice's new one - it's not too bad so far - some of the screen are even harder to see out doors - i'm beginning to think black background w/ large white text is going to be the order of the day. I think the problem w/ SBR's is I forgot to do the hard reset - atleast I hope that's was the prob.
