Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
Either method will work, but your radio is already updated, so little point. 3.49 has known issues - I'd upgrade to something newer.
|
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
OK, I give - where is there something newer than 3.49 base rom image?

Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
There's that and no2chem's roms and the 19588 kitchen.
|
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
Thanks C2: now what? Do I flash the Sprint 3.56 image and then re-flash the custom? Since this is a 'ship' - released version I'm sure it's worth while.
|
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
yea, you will need to flash back custom since your verizon
|
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
Will it also downgrade the radio? I see it says 3.42.02 - mine shows 3.42.30.
I'll take it that I'll have to re-upgrade the radio if it does that. I guess I can just do it and see what happens. Obviously not hard to do either way. |
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
Does anyone know what the 'Special_4350.nbh' file is for that is included in the ...3.56.exe i.e., what happens if you flash that to the phone?
|
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
I seem to have lost my ability to flash from SD card.
I've tried re-formatting, copys via usb (card reader on PC & activesync) neither makes a diff. Only thing I can think of that I haven't tried is formatting by the phone. Any thoughts? |
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
that stock rom I would have just flashed it via the computer. then when you put the rom on the sd card are you remembering to name it TITAIMG.nbh case sensitive?
|
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
Yes, I did do it by case sensitivity. Just doesn't seem to be working anymore.
I can see the file through activesync if I let it boot normally. It is TITAIMG.nbh. When I do the power/camera soft reset - it goes into the SPL2.47 bootloader screen and I can plug and unplug the usb and the text follows. But it just won't start the update. The radio image didn't come with an ruu update. Can it be done with ruu? Just change the name to ruu_signed and put the ruu exe in the folder? Is there anything else you have to do? |
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
wierd, maybe you have a bad card, you said it got corrupted before. can you try formating it again, that nuespl cab file gives you an option to just format it.

Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
Hi,
Great writing,m really appreciate it, havnent seen a form which is so clear, thansk for the effort. i have a question. I own a I-mate jam before (now tytnII) i would like to know can i use this sprint ROM to update my jam (it runs WM 2003) and most importantly i am in middle east, will it work if i insert a simcard of this region? coz it is named sprint rom, i thought may be it will work only with sprint coverage. |
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
Hey I definitely commend you on the effort, but there are already 2 guides like this stickied in this forum, such as:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=9927 ^which personally, I find to be a bit simpler and easier to read. Mainly due to the added numbering and additional links. However, if you were able to write up a bigger guide, that would include how to use the ppcgeeks kitchen to make your own custom rom, specifically, how to add in applications not included in any kitchen into a custom rom. That would help me out a ton ;P Oh and you'd get a donation from me if you could explain in detail, how to not only add apps not included in the kitchen, but also how I can add those apps to my custom rom, including how to load the serial / registration keys for my apps into a custom rom. That would be amazing :) |

Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
for the tytnII check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=378 the concept should be the same, but its probably slightly different programs.

As far as SIM card usage goes, yes, if you get a SIM card for your region your tytnII will work. The 6800 (Titan) is a CDMA phone, does not use SIM cards, and you likely can not find a CDMA base carrier where you are (GSM is the standard on that side of the world) |

That being said, I strongly advise you to use an autoinstall program such as Tautoinstall to install your .cabs instead of converting them to OEMs. You can also find a bunch of ready made OEMs if you search here and xda-developers. If you really want to make your own OEMs, start with OEMizer by tiermann. It will convert many simple .cabs to OEMs. Registration serial keys are trivial to build in IF you can find how they are stored. It varies from program to program. Once you find your key, how to replicate it will be obvious 99% of the time. |

Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
im currently in the process of attempting to cook a nice starter rom for first/newtimers that has alot of the apps I think people would find useful.
|
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
on attempt 6 or so lol. will probably be a day or two before I have something worth uploading.

Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
Great guide. It helps having one specifically for Sprint since I have not done this before. One question. With the 2.47 bootloader, after I flashed a custom ROM, am I able to flash back to the latest "Official" 3.56/3.42 rom to play around with it again if i ever felt the need, or do i need to revert back to 2.07 bootloader first to flash it. Im not talking about getting totally back to stock to take back to store, just wanting to know what i can flash with 2.47. Thanks.

Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
Hi everyone. I've read over all the posts and I feel like I understand what's going on, but I'm still scared.](*,) Would anyone be so kind as to walk me through the process of updating my phone. I have a HTC Mogul 6800 and I'm currently running Windows Mobile 6. I'm trying to upgrade to 6.1.
I live in Brooklyn, so if anyone local doesn't mind spending a few minutes with me over the phone please message me. All I have to give is my gratitude, hopefully that will be enough:mrgreen: |

I just realised part of what I said might gget your confused, the latest official rom shoudl have windows 6.1 stock now, but if you flash a custom rom, you have to make sure it is 6.1 although 99.999999999% of the roms out there are windows 6.1 nowadays |
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
guess you either gave up for figured it out.
|
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
I'm still having issues. My PRI file/settings keep getting updated.
I know this is suppose to be because I've let the Sprint customizations run. If they are getting run, I don't know where or how. I have never let any sprint rom go past the 'tap to setup' screen. This last pass I did not even use a Sprint ROM. I flashed the 3.42.30 radio and then dcd 3.22 upon reboot ran the dcd verizon carrier cab. Looked at the PRI and it had changed to 2.03_003. So, I have no clue as to what I am doing wrong. |
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
when you are going back to stock verizon, is your radio changing? if its not you can skip the sprint rom step
|
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
No, it shows stock radio and code 1.30.60 & 2.09.605.8. The PRI goes back to 1.35_002. I'm in the process of going back to stock again right now.
|
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
when you try flashing it, this next time, as soon as you see the HTC screen pull the battery, and then flash it again with the other rom
|
Re: Simple steps to flashing your own rom
The only way flashing is working right now is usb - I'm still having trouble flashing from SD card - even though 2.47 install says it's formatted correctly.
So If I pull the battery, how am I going to flash? |
