nueSPL-2.47

http://www.weienterprises.com/nue/SPL/2.pnghttp://www.weienterprises.com/nue/SPL/3.png

nueSPL-2.47 will update your device to the latest HardSPL. This SPL is NOT MFG. This SPL update no longer requires activesync, and should reduce problems for vista users. It can even be used by users with MacOS or Linux. You must have a microSD card (included with the phone) to use this method. Credit goes to Olipro for fixing my hardspl.

This SPL is not necessarily better than Olipro-2.40, however it is off a newer version of the SPL, Olipro-2.40 is from a SPL in September, this one is from a SPL in Feb. Because it is not MFG, it lacks some commands in bootloader.

DO NOT USE with a NON GPS RADIO (2.xx). Only use with GPS RADIOS (3.xx). A version check will be added soon.

To use, you need to copy the SPL update to your device and run it. It is intended to be run from the device, not the computer. Please see the included PDF instructions for complete details, and be sure to READ them before running the update.

Thanks to the testers - colonel00, astainhellbring, lennysh and mromblad for helping test and diagnose problems. Thanks to cmonex and olipro for advice and direction and fixing the SPL. Thanks to pof for JumpSPL.

Wow, amazing. Great idea, making unlocking and relocking directly on the device.

No2: How about adding the SPL to your sig line. Another notch on the belt.

BTW do you have a list of benefits why this is better than Olipro?

will HC cards work?

lafester 06-29-2008 10:39 AM

Re: nueSPL-2.47

worked for me but only with a regular card.
i figured this would be the case as it is with all other flashing but i wanted to test in case n2c had figured it out.

it would be so much easier if i could flash from my 8 gig card (hint hint)

thanks n2c! one less thing to worry about if i need to return the phone.

Re: nueSPL-2.47

huh.. not able to get this to update... I ran with my 1gb card I normally do updates from but it wasn't fat32.. so I tried my normal 4gb card... went through the checks, loaded the loader then flashed something on the screen quickly and went back to rainbow screen with Serial... nothing flashed .. I think there was an error that flashed but it was too quick to see what was on there.

I also tried the "Format" feature on my 1gb card but it said there was an error creating the partition.

Going to try formatting SD card as fat32 in winblowz then try again

Zenoran 06-29-2008 11:12 AM

Re: nueSPL-2.47

Well, update on that.. formatted fresh fat32 in windows on my 1gb but now the updater program says it's not fat32.

Is there a particular cluster size that's supposed to work properly? I did the typical 1024.. full format not quick.

nueSPL works great for me.

For all of those people asking why it is better than olipro spl it is by no2chem duh! lol jk

Actually it is based on a newer bootloader. Also the fact that you don't need a pc to use it makes it better. And call me crazy but personally for me it seems to boot a little faster.

Running this update (thanks No2Chem) - does it mean I have to reflash another rom?

Just to be sure this isn't relegated to just no2 roms can this be used with other roms like say dcd?

sure it can, personally, I'm using dcd's 3.0.1, for me it's been the most stable...

Ya the 4gb card is HC... but the 1gb is most-definately not... I'm not quite sure why I can't get it to work with that one but the "checks" in the installer.exe are telling me it's not formatted with fat32... it is!

lafester 06-29-2008 01:07 PM

Re: nueSPL-2.47

just let the installer format the card for you.

of course it will erase the card so you have to start over.

this worked for me on an unformtted 1gb sd.

Re: nueSPL-2.47

I finally figure out how to get Olipro 2.40 to flash on Vista 64-bit and then you put this out! :)

I also had issues with my 1GB card, it was formatted in FAT32 originally but the installer said it wasn't. Popped in a 512MB though and reformatted it, it worked that way. Other, than that, I had no issues installing it.

does this hard reset everything, or just update the bootloader?

lafester 06-29-2008 01:22 PM

Re: nueSPL-2.47

it does not hard reset.

everything is good to go.

Yep, just installs the new bootloader and then boots back into your current ROM. I'd say make sure you're backed up anyways just in case something goes wrong.

hindjew 06-29-2008 01:32 PM

Re: nueSPL-2.47

stupid question, but ill ask anyways. After getting this SPL, will i still be able to update via PC using RUU? it won't be limited to card ROM updates righ? I keep an extra 512 microsd with an emergency ROM, but i prefer to use my PC for the normal flashing. (even though I'm a mac user, i still like to boot into win xp and do everything)

Scrufdog 06-29-2008 01:37 PM

Re: nueSPL-2.47

well that was easy. Does this help fight the occasional dead bricking we were seeing, or is this just an update for easy flashing of the SPL?

TurboFool 06-29-2008 02:00 PM

Re: nueSPL-2.47

Already successfully ran it (from a 2GB card I always use for my flashing). Anything else this SPL addresses besides being able to lock/unlock straight from the phone?

i'm pretty sure changing the radio from a gps to non gps is the cause of the bricking. the bootloader has nothing to do with it.

Re: nueSPL-2.47

Program ran flawlessly on xv-6800 except when the screen goes blank, I can never get it to respond to the power button, and it won't active sync or receive calls. If I do a reset, it reboots and works fine activesync and all. I just can't let the screen go blank or it will lock up and never come back.

No2chem, I asked this in the Re-locker thread, but it really should be in this thread.

Should those of us WITHOUT an Official ROM update release from our Carrier use this update? The reason is that our stock bootloader is 1.x and our stock radio is non-GPS..... Is this a correct statement???

Zen - just copy the contents of the card to your desktop, use it, then copy it all back....

Huh? not following you... copy the contents of the card to my desktop? The card is empty atm... I just formatted it fresh but the installer isn't recognizing it as fat32 for some reason. And if I try to use the installer to format it it pops up an error saying it can't create the partition...

hmm maybe ill try deleting the partition

its fine to use this to unlock and flash to a gps rom from a non gps rom.
you cannot keep or flash a non gps rom once you have unlocked AND you cannot relock and flash back to a non gps rom.

1.xx (non gps) radios are not compatible with this bootloader.
once you flash a 3.xx radio you cannot flash back to a 1.xx radio even if you relock to a stock bootloader without risking a brick (not 100% but risky).

OK, so this boot loader will rid me of the Vista problems. Great for kitchen RRU's. but, does not effect SD card flashing, it still works the same, correct?

This is a great improvement! Thanks to all.
