WM6 "Contacts" application won't start?

I am running N2C-5067, and I have a problem where I can't start the standard WM "Contacts" application if anything else is running.

If I run anything else (Like, Internet Connection Sharing"), and then start "Contacts", the Contacts phonebook flashes up on the screen momentarily and then disappears. The HTC Task Manager drop-down list shows that the Contacts application is no longer running.

Is there a solution for this?

It sure seems like that is the way it is acting, so I did a little test.

I just tried it a few seconds ago, while I have ICS running (to post this response).

My memory load was at 68% before I started the Contacts application - and it still died. If running the Contacts application takes more than 32% of my available memory (16 MB free), I would be amazed. I can start up the Opera browser with less than 10% of free memory being sucked up, and I'll be willing to bet that a heck of a lot more stuff is going on with that app.

So, I think something else is going on ...

Re: WM6 "Contacts" application won't start?

I found the problem: The HTC "Large Button" Task Manager. When I went back to the latest "Small Button" version, applications don't seem to terminate as quickly, and "Contacts" starts up normally.

I had the same problem but it was PPCContacts Manager was selected in the kitchen while building the No2Chem 5067 rom. As soon as I rebuilt it without my contacts opened correctly.

Re: WM6 "Contacts" application won't start?

You can do a registry fix to make it work with the big button task manager as well:

Set this regkey in regedit:

HKCU\Software\HTC\TaskManager\EnableAutoKill=0

It is HTC Taskmanager wanting to close the program automatically.

Props to Sonny486 for this! This problem was KILLING me! I would have to soft reset to be able to use my contacts, and do you know how hard it is to juggle all of that while driving
