Rom Update Error?!

I bought a mogul (PPC6800) from Qwest. Downloaded the ROM Update from the HTC website http://www.htc.com/us/FAQ_Detail.aspx?p_id=75&act=sd. I ran the update and followed all the instructions. after clicking the update and next buttons the screen would then change to another with 3 bars going across (green, red, blue). Then to a gray screen with a status bar. A few seconds later a new window would pop up saying Error [294] INVALID VENDOR ID "This Update Utility cannot be used for your PDA Phone. Please check your update utility."

i see one problem..sorry i didn't look at your pic but you said you got it from Qwest...the link that you have is for Sprint:mrgreen: ok i just saw your image and i was correct...you are trying to use the oem Sprint rom on your oem Qwest mogul...you need to load the olipro 2.40 unlocker onto your phone then you should be able to install the rom that you were trying to install...i'm sure someone else will chime in shortly..these guys are pretty helpful here

Sounds like you haven't unlocked your phone yet. Install Olipro 2.4...then flash that Sprint ROM....before you do any of that however you should read the stickies posted above so you fully understand what to do.

Just a warning... if you flash to a Sprint ROM to get GPS and such, you can NOT get warranty service through Qwest. There is not a 3.xx radio ROM for Qwest and trying to review to a 2.xx ROM can brick your phone irreparably.

Is not even better? If you are going to send it back for warranty , flash 2.xx rom. If it works fine and if you brick it, they cant fix it and you get a new one.
Am i missing something?

Qwest has been known to deny bricked pocketpcs in the past. Don't know if its still like that but there were definitely reports of it in the past.

Ok I updated the ROM! Now I need to find out how I can change my username found in Device Information to my old one. After updating with the sprint ROM, my username which was my (phone number)@Qwest had changed to my (ESN number)@hmc.sprint.

You probably ran sprint or alltel customizations. You have check epst settings , customizations are known to change data username and password in epst.

You need GETSPC to find your SPC code.
Then you can run epst from windows folder , select edit.
Then press and hold username it should give you an option to edit it.
