Wireless Sync disconnecting data

I have wm6.1 with the 5060 release, and I've had the same problem with a half dozen different distributions. I have wireless sync on my phone, but after wireless sync finishes it's sync session, it hangs up the data connection. Then, it does not reinitiate the data connection next time it goes to sync, so the server it's trying to connect to does not resolve. I tried always on data in the registry, it didn't do it. If I manually open a data connection, it will work, then hang it up, and won't work again.

The strange part is, it worked for a few days, then suddenly stopped. I reflash, it works for a few days, then stops. As far as I can tell, nothing is changing, it just suddenly decides it's time to hang up the data connection.

Re: Wireless Sync disconnecting data

I have the same exact issue with the n2c, nexvision, and ppckitchen builds, but not with dcd. So, there must be a setting that effects the data on/off that can be modified, but I've got no idea what it is. I do find that if WS is not connecting, if I start PIE, then it will sync. Not exactly a smooth workaround. Comm manager data connect does not work manually either, which I'm certain has something to do with this as well.

Re: Wireless Sync disconnecting data

If i manually go into the connection settings, and click on the #777, and hit connect, it'll connect. However, it hten immediately disconnects. I have no idea why. Wireless sync seems to not be able to initiate a connection. PIE can, as well as several other apps. I think it's more of a problem with data auto-disconnecting. I think it's time to flash dcd's, it's to bad because i really like the kitchen, but i need my email.

Re: Wireless Sync disconnecting data

i must be something with n2c's ROMs. i very seldom use wireless sync, but when i used 5060 for a little, i found some things like this that didnt work. havent had a problem on DCD's 3.0.4. have you tried the reg edit to always have your data connection running?

edit: try this reg edit.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A3 8-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\Verizon (or Sprint PCS Vision if you're on Sprint)

Change AlwaysOn dword to 1

Re: Wireless Sync disconnecting data

I had already tried that with no success. Back to dcd for me as well. Thanks though.

Re: Wireless Sync disconnecting data

What exactly does wireless sync sync to and what info?
Any reason to not use a free exchange server like mail2web (syncs calendar, contacts, tasks, email)?

Just asking because I've never used it but I know it's an ancient app. You guys waited a couple of weeks after I switched to Sprint so I can't test now :P

WS syncs to a web-based portal/server that in turn, syncs to an applet on the desktop that coordinates to Outlook mail, calendar, notes, tasks, contacts. It is old and limited, but, in my case, it has utility because (to make a long story short) of the way email is set up in my company.

The mystery is, why does it work on the dcd roms but not with n2c or ppckitchen? It is the only reason why I can't use those. Whenever there's a new build I give it a shot, but no go. Would be great if this can be solved. Thanks, Tiermann!

Re: Wireless Sync disconnecting data

when you go to manage your connections, instead of connecting try doing an edit.
for username i put in my cell phone number & password i put in vzw

mine were both blank and once i did that my stuff data worked alot better. and the data icon in the connection manager is enabled.

hopefully that helps.

Re: Wireless Sync disconnecting data

Did you just put in only your cell number, or "cellnumber@vzw3g.com"? I think I've tried this, but, I'll give it another shot next time I flash to one of these roms.

The data connect thing is hit or miss (therein lies the issue). There are times when it does connect, and if you should happen to look at comm manager then, you can change it. There's quite a bit of discussion going on in the nexvision threads about disconnecting bluetooth and wifi. IMHO, these issues are all somehow related.
