EPST not working

Hi guys

I'm having a bit of trouble at the moment trying to program my HTC Titan that I recently upgraded to WM6 using ImCokeMan's kitchen.

I unlocked the device then it wouldn't start up again (think I may have somehow removed the OS) so I eventually managed to flash the ROM onto it. I have not relocked it or anything. I am currently on the Telecom NZ network and cannot do anything to program it.

I have tried ##778 and ##482826 and tried using the quick # codes from the kitchen and even tried opening it via file explorer windows/epstbut nothing works.

Here's the funny thing. Whenever I try something that should open up the EPST screen like the above, it flashes up with EPST at the top then goes back to the previous screen. If I open EPST in the explorer, it will flash up EPST then go back to the explorer. If I try open it up through the dialer i.e. dial one of the # codes, it will flash up EPST and then go back to the dialer.

I have tried everything, doing a hard reset, doing a soft reset, flashing a different ROM from the kitchen (BTW as anyone tried a Telecom NZ ROM from the kitchen before?), flashing a non-GPS ROM from the kitchen, leaving the battery out overnight. I'm really stuck.

Please help me!!!!

Also, I can actually connect to the network in a way. When I ring a number, I get the same voice that tells me that I need to program my phone. I can call *123 and stuff and get through to someone. I'm pretty sure my phone just needs to be programmed and it will be up and running. Surely there must be something I can do like flash it again and in theory, the software is there.

1) imcokeman has a kitchen? link?
2) all of the working custom roms as well as stock roms should have epst in it, you might need the carrier specific epst.epst file

Sorry, not ImCokeMan's kitchen. Was just the standard PPCGeeks kitchen but I picked it up off one of his posts.

The EPST file is there. I can see it through file explorer but just doesn't open up properly.

Re: EPST not working

I know my phone has two EPST files and one named EPST Config. One of the EPST does what you said, the other brings up the menu. The EPST Config also brings up the menu.

Cool. I will check it out when I get home thanks. Hopefully it will work. Just unusual that the # codes don't work either. Cheers.

Re: EPST not working

My codes didn't work after I flashed a 6.1 rom. I hard reset and it worked again. Maybe a bad flash? Are you running any dialer skin? Those tend to inhibit #codes.

Re: EPST not working

Tried hard resetting and flashing several different variants of a ROM from PPCgeeks kitchen but none worked. I ended up using a different kitchen from XDA and managed to get the EPST working and program it, then flashed it back to the PPCgeeks version (cause it has way better skins and features). From then on, the phone worked fine. But texting and internet didn't. I hard reset and reflashed and then texting started working. I hard reset again and internet started working but only very intermittently. In a last ditch attempt, I reflashed and hard reset again but the internet still only works very intermittently.

Any ideas?

Re: EPST not working

Which "different kitchen" did you use? Just curious because TelecomNZ in PPCKitchen has no epst.epst file or any ## codes so that is why it doesn't work. No one submitted a telecomNZ stock ROM dump so the carrier OEM was improvised.

Re: EPST not working

Hi I am on Telecom NZ too, and have this exact problem,
Previous owner had an Alltel Radio/rom on my Titan to get WM6.1
The ## codes used to work and starting EPST also worked fine with the ##HTCTAN code, ##482829.

I then updated the bootloader to 2.40 and loaded the Sprint Radio ROM 3.42.02 then loaded setup and loaded a ROM kitchen with No2Chem_5067
built a ROM with carrier Telecom NZ.

In the ROM I included using HTC Vouge Dialler and ## Codes.

In \Windows\ I have 1 EPST Config and 2 EPST files, 1 is 495K the other 2 are 28B, all of them just flash up EPST on the title bar then go back to explorer.
Same when I try launching \Windows\Data

I have done multiple hard resets. Still not working.

How can I fix this?

thanks
