Omg Did Something Stupid Help!

So in my infinite wisdom, I decided to update to the new official rom. I followed the intructions exactly, even performed an active sync of the device before the flash, and everything worked perfectly until I got back into windows, I realized ALL my contacts are gone /insert really loud obsenities!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is there ANY way of getting my contacts back? If so im willing to reward up to 500 million internetz to the person/s that help me.

Thanks,

Andy

i did resync it and nothing, this is sad because some of the people I knew i only kept in contact with that phone number /sadface; and yes I had all my contacts before the flash

Ninja Edit: Does anyone know where activesync stores the information the phone sends? i have looked around my comp but i cant seem to find it.

Do you have outlook on your pc ? That where activesnyc stores your contacts and appointments. Pictures and misc files are stored elsewhere on the pc.

I have done this too, if you delete all your contacts on your phone, like when you flash, and it is set up to sync and your phone to your computer and not combine, it will delete all your computer contacts. Check in your deleted folder in contacts. my outlook isnt working, but i remember it was a folder on the left. I found most of my info there. had to sort through it but i found it all. Next time, use PIMbackup or something, will save you a lot of headache.

Here is the easiest way. DotFreds PIMBackup. Free, and I set it to backup every night at 3:00a.m. and keep the last seven days. You have to forsee these sort of things and backup your backup! Here is the link...

http://www.dotfred.net/

Features:

- backup/restore appointments
- backup/restore call logs
- backup/restore contacts
- backup/restore messages (SMS, Mails, ...) NEW !!!
- backup/restore speed dials
- backup/restore tasks
- backup/restore custom files

There is no way to recover your Contacts on the PDA-side. They're gone forever.

If you are using Vista, there may be some hope to recover your Contacts on the PC side. Go look for your outlook .pst file (I'm not sure where it normally lives since I use Exchange). Once you find it, right click and go to "Restore previous version". Choose a date when your contacts existed, and click the "Restore" button. Everything will then be fine from that point.

Many people may not like Vista, but I have found one huge compelling reason to use it: Restore previous version. That feature has saved my *** more times than I'd like to admit.
