Talking Kitchen or Stock ROM?

Whats up to all my fellow ppc fam! I just ditched my old 6700 and got the Mogul. Now on my 6700, I did throw on the kitchen 6.0 and I thought it was pretty cool. I didn't really notice a big difference in speed between the wm6 kitchen and the old wm5 stock rom at the time. However, I loved the interface of wm6 so I kept it on there.

Now..............

I have the mogul (which has wm6) and I'm wondering is it really that much worth to take the new stock rom with the 3.35 radio off to put on a custom kitchen. The only thing I really want to do is free up some memory, but how much would i be able to free up? It also looks like there are way more steps to putting on a custom rom than it was with 6700.

So guys.............. Kitchen or Stock? And what features wins either one over for you?

Re: Kitchen or Stock ROM?

i would definately go to the either the kitchen or one of the wm 6.1 roms i suggest no2chems because they are very clean and if you build the programs you want in to the rom then it also saves memoery plus you can put the overclocking program (htc performance) in it and speed it up even more.

Re: Kitchen or Stock ROM?

I just installed dcd's 3.0.1 and I am booting up to 24.5mbs of free ram, something I've never gotten neither on no2chems or stock rom.

i dont know ! the only time i used WM6 was with my stock xv6800.. for about 3 weeks before going to a 6.1 rom.. i'm a 'latest greatest' kind of guy, so since i could get my hands on 6.1, i wasn't about to just stay with 6.....
really, this doesnt answer your question at all does it... just do it! you can always re-flash :P

Re: Kitchen or Stock ROM?

most of this stuff is personelpreference. my personel preference is no2chemswm 6.1 5060 rom i have my rom completely loaded down and i boot 15mb of ram but that is a pretty good amount due to the memory management of 6.1 if you like have newest stuff and also like your take on things playing with wm 6.1 is for you.

I was in the same boat 2 months ago. First of all, YOU DO NOT have to take the 3.35 radio off your Mogul. In fact, IT IS required for the Kitchen. The kitchen simply reflashes the ROM not the radio.

As for extra steps (assuming you are with Sprint), all you need to do is load the Olipro 2.40 unlocker on your phone.... and then you can reflash your mogul to your hearts content. (and it's as easy as the 6700)

If all you want to do is free up memory than you've actually already answered your question. The Kitchen is the way to go. It is actually much "cleaner and leaner" than the stock ROM. Of course you can load up any countless programs available in the kitchen but that's up to you.

Enjoy.

Thats good to hear. I think I might just go ahead and see how I like wm6.1 and if I'm not feeling it, I'll just go with wm6 kitchen.

But people.........I APPRECIATE all of the input. Much luv
