Soft key to switch tracks?

Hai-

I am looking to program a soft key to change an audio track. Here's the kicker, I don't want to bring my music player program up.

My phone is usually running GPS software and music player in the background and works great, however I have to switch programs to change tracks which is a hassle when driving.

Is it possible to program a softkey to change audio track even if GPS is the shown program? Possbile a mortscript?

i dont think that's possible, they are called softkeys, because they change depending on whatever is on the front of your screen, you may be able to set some of the other hard buttons (comm manger, ok, IE, etc.) to forward/backward, but other than that, I dont think you would be able to do that.

If you have an AVRCP capable bluetooth headset, the track navigation buttons on the headset will skip tracks without changing the active application, and, depending on the program, with the screen off.
