Verizon internet speeds

ok...i have upgraded to DCD3.0.1 and when i use IE, it seems so damn slow! pages sometimes take forever to load. Now when i connect to my computer with USB and check the internet i can get 1000 kb/s, but when i use IE on my phone...i get like 300kb/s download?!?! is this just IE? any settings i should check/change. It is very annoying to use IE sometimes. would it be faster (or is it) on the verizon stock rom? thanks...
