keyboard sending additional presses since 3.35
Hey guys,
The new rom has been great so far, except for one detail that is almost enough to make me revert back if I can't fix it since I use the keyboard so much. When using the slideout keyboard, occasionally extra presses will be registered. For example, I'll type the word 'Mogul' and it might come out 'Moggul', or even 'Moguuul'. This has only occured since updating the rom. I have never had any other issues though. I use the slideout keyboard quite a bit and it's very annoying to constantly have to go back and correct the text for double or sometimes triple letters. I have tried entering in the keys very slowly and carefully to make sure I didn't enter letters too quickly or accidentally double press. This is definitely not the case. Any help would be much appreciated. Joe |

I have noticed the same thing. No matter how careful I am not to hold the keys down too long, I still get multiple button presses. Didnt have this problem before I flashed to 3.35. A Pain !

This is what is happening to me. I sometimes pressed a letter and nothing shows up. I guess I need to go to the stock one and see if it does it to that too. It gets really annoying. I thought it was just my keyboard and I would need to get the phone fixed.
Also when I type pretty quick, it takes a while for it to catch up to where I finished typing. Are you guys have this problem too? |

It does it with the stock one too. I ended up getting a text message in the middle of flashing DCD's rom when I discovered it. I was wondering what was going on. The 3.16 never gave me problems with double lettering but it did give me problems with stuttering (Same with previous versions)

I'm using No2chem nuerom. I didn't have a problem before. I didn't remember it when it first came out but more on the last one. I was using the 5052 before the 5055. I just assumed it was my keyboard.

damn... i thought it was a keyboard issue with mine as well. The spacebar is messed in mine. I have to hold it down like a second (at least it feels like a second) before it will register. I also get multiple key entries like everyone above. BTW... I'm using DCD's ROM.

The button that i notice that doesn't work that much is blue button. I sometimes have to press it about 4 times and other times I press it it will light up so that is is always on. I've been using touchpal since it gets annoying seeing my letters all messed up.

hah, and i thought it was because i left my phone outside during a really humid morning - got up to run a 5k. sort of glad to hear other people share the same problem.

ive noticed even my touchscreen being laggy since new rom. same with the button presses and now i have the white dot issue.... talk about being F****ed i got all 3 when they supposibly finally fixed the issues wit te new rom i get 3 new ones.](*,)

Hey,
Given the posts, I'd thought I would add some clarification. Also, since this post is from my phone, from here on I'll type without correcting, so you can see first hand the issue. The issue I am talking abbout is specificc to this rrom and a result of thhis rom. I have also experienced some of the other problems that have been mentioned, succh as a delay or lag in entering characterrs, bbut I've had that happen on any WM phone I've used. Also, charcters sometimes not entering aftter being pushed, I think is the nature of this hardware as I've had that since I bbought the phone and when I make sure I press those trouble keys more delibbbberately they work fine. None of those "problems"s (whichh aren't really problems for me) impair my productivity and cause frustration like this one. Anyhow, I think this ppost is a good example of the double (or more) entry issue. I hope this helps clarify. Thanks! Joe |

My frustration is more about my "i" key registers once every 4 or 5 times. So I would type like this " am gong to meet you at fve o'clock" I hope it's not the hardware.

It's not the hardware. I will confirm it when I get my replacement mogul sometime tomorrow. It never did this to me until I started using 3.35.

Is this only happening for a small group of people? I would think this is a pretty annoying problem for most people, so I'm surprised it's not being mentioned more/commented on. It makes me think it hasn't affected many people and maybe after reflashing, the problem would go away? |

i've reflashed it a few times. It only does it on the 3.35 rom everything else is working too well to down grade though.

i've been trying to just ignore this problem, but it's really getting annoying. i spend more time going back and editing my message than actually typing it. i guess i need to find a good on-screen keyboard.

This is happening to me too on DCD's latest ROM. It mainly happens with the blue button staying on when I jut pres it one time. I hope someone can find a solution for this because its really annoying.

You can try playing with the initial delay and repeat rate for the keyboard.
It also affects the rest of the buttons as well. Code:

Same issue here. I flashed right before I went on vacation to the new rom. When I got back I noticed this happening and figured I just wasn't used to the keyboard after the break away from it. But it keeps happening. And I have flashed it a few times since with newer No2Chem releases (currently 5060).
I'll try playing with the reg settings and see if that helps - thanks for the tip tiermann. Anybody know what the settings were by default before the new rom was released (was using No2Chem releases then too) and if they were any different? |

okay, this is good to know, what always fixes it for me is a reboot. but then again, if i see that hte keyboard lag is happening it also means the entire unit for me slows down to a crawl.

well, i'm still getting the problem, and i really hope this is fixed in the next update for the phone. i really like having the keyboard to type on, but i've resorted to onscreen solutions.

In another (what i thought was unrelated) thread, there were problems with hardware keyboard and the hetaldp HTC Touch Keyboard that was added. Keys were not registering at all. So I reverted to the older version to test. Hardware keys work, but I get repeats. I couldn't completely type out the homerow (straight across carefully) without getting a repeat. Flash without HTC Touch Keyboard, and I can type the entire keyboard with no repeats.

i didn't install a Touch keyboard until this past Saturday.... and even then it was PocketCM.

I installed the HTC Titan KeyFix.cab file found at this link and no more repeats. THANK YOU GUYS so much. That was driving me nuts. I still have the old keyboard problem with one or 2 of my keys you have to press twice as hard as the other to work. I think that is a hardware problem cause I know a few people on alltel official stock rom that have that same problem. By the way, I was never using the HTC Touch keyboard and never installed it.

Cool. Thanks for the input, all. I've added this fix to 5060 for next update. What it does is replaces the keyboard driver which makes sense if it's been happening since 3.35+. Actually a downgrade, but if it works, it works. Doesn't seem to break anything.

For the past 2 weeks the situation has got kinda worst. Theres more keys coming out as doubles n triples plus my keyboard doesnt light up anymore. I'ma try that cab and see if that works.
