Sprint Mogul 3.35.651.2 ROM Stability

Well folks, I must admit, upon upgrading to the newest ROM, my expectations for the stability of the phone was not high. After upgrading to the past several ROMs I was greeted with lockups, memory leaks, etc. But this time around it has been very different.

My personal impressions:

1) First and foremost, memory leaks seem to be gone! Upon resetting, I had about 24MB free RAM. After using the phone for a while and closing every program except ActiveSync using the new task manager, I was left with about 15.6MB free RAM. It has been this value for the last week or so without ever resetting the phone! Therefore, I personally believe that after running some programs, WM leaves some DLLs or something loaded for faster execution later, and once all of those components are loaded, the system stays around 15.6MB free and does not slowly decay over time!

2) Lockups and resets are a thing of the past! I have had my phone running the new ROM since the day it came out, and I have not had to reset it using the stylus (or shut it off) since! VERY stable ROM. I’m loving it!

3) EV-DO and GPS work as advertised! End of story.

4) Bluetooth (a thorn in my side since the beginning)... I haven't tested it out yet, but I will keep you posted. I was one of the few who probably wanted to use the Phone As Modem over Bluetooth functionality and realized it hasn't worked ever. I am planning on trying this soon since it is something they stated they fixed in the FAQ.

5) Windows Live Hotmail with direct push works perfectly now! Before, you could not save your direct push schedule times, but now it does exactly what you would expect!

Some unhappy comments, just so I don't sound like I own HTC stock or something...

1) ROM still has the crappy Jeodek Java manager installed. Can't run Opera Mobile without lockups until you install the cool JBed version.

2) Scrolling in 'real' web pages in PIE is totally crappy.

So overall I am totally happy and super-glad HTC and Sprint could finally get their crap together on this device. I finally am feeling like I am getting what I paid for!

Just for your information, the programs I have loaded in my phone are as follows:
Microsoft Live Search
TofClock TodayPlugin (Picture Phone Dialer)
TCPMP, with all Plugins installed.
Skunkworks FlashVideoBundle (Latest update)
GreenSoftware GSPlayer with WMA and AAC plugins installed.
