Just installed using 5060's basekit.

No difference.
100% jumps right down to 96% when unplugged. The dropoff then slows, but still at the same poor rate as before.

Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.

I read over at xda that our phones may have always done the drop to 95% battery, but we couldn't tell because the old battery driver only read in 10% increments.

If this is true then we cant really use this "initial battery drop" for measuring the battery life or to tell if there is something wrong.

Also, when did Everyone get there phones. I got my phone when they first came out, it has Pocket PC written on the front of it also. I have a theory that maybe some of the older phones have a slightly different hardware than the newer ones giving them worse battery life and slower gps locks.

edit: it got it from sprint when they first came out (may/june of '07 I think)

You have a good point with the 10% increment issue, however I think you missed the boat entirely with the rest of your post.
If you read the whole thread, you will understand that those with the issue had GREAT battery life BEFORE the 3.35 radio upgrade. I was an avid battery watcher myself and distinctly remember having the ability to go several days on one charge even with light GPS use.
My battery life is barely a single day now, with light cellphone and app use. Forget about GPS unless you know you're going to charge it in the near future.
I think you'd have to have been through it to understand the before-n-after difference we are experiencing.
(I had to buy a car charger because of it. I've never had one before...)

Thanks for sharing

Could someone please start a thread so people can post what problems they are NOT having?

Amen, enough posts telling us life is rosy. I'm sure lots of people that barely use their phone are not having or noticing this problem. If you actually use your phone, can you reference a usage type (i.e how much time you spend on internet, chatting, using gps, etc) and how long you are getting in battery life with this radio compared to the last one? Also note, that if you put your phone in 1X only, I see much longer life, so for those of you in 1X area's, I doubt you will see a difference until you try some evdo surfing.

I was having the same problem with the battery, I kept seeing ActiveSync running after I turned it to manual - I have latest Rom & HTC and was about to ditch HTC when I saw a fix to turn time sync from auto to manual (phone\menu\options\services\time synchro\uncheck auto) -- that killed my constant ActiveSync and my battery time picked up much better -- though problably not quite as well as without HTC but I like the look.

Kraygh, now I think you miss understood me. I have had the same problems as everyone else here (see my previous posts in this thread). I had great battery life with 2.3.2 and crappy life (ie a day, if that) with the new update. I was merely saying that the initial drop in battery life that you (and I) have may not be "bad" and that maybe that "initial drop" happend on the old rom also, but just didnt notice. Thats all I was saying.

Back to my little experiment. Recap:

-I installed the standard (off htc's website) update. I did not let sprints crap programs install and I installed very few apps along with it.
-I did this with 60% ish battery life left at 3-ish pm yesterday.
-After the flash, I made about 5 calls and texted about 5 times also. I used the internet twice for about 5 minutes. I made sure to go to conn manager and disable data connection (evdo) after I used the net.
-I did NOT charge my phone all evening or night ( I have still not charged it at 2:35 pm the next day)

Results:
-when I woke up this morning (6:45am) I still had 60% battery. If I was using dcd 3.0.1 or no2chems 5060 my phone would have been dead in the morning (I know as I left it at 80% charge at night multiple times and it was always dead in the morning)
-It is now 2:35pm, My phone reports 40% charge, it has been at 40% since 11:30 this morning

Inicial conclusion from my one day test:
-Battery life is MUCH MUCH better by NOT using a hacked rom. When I first upgraded my phone from dcd 2.3.2 to 3.0.1 (2 weeks ago) I installed the htc update, then before I even went though the screen calibration I flashed to dcd's 3.0.1. I never even tested the standard sprint rom.

Note: I have not even tried to used gps with this rom yet.

I am going to continue to use the standard rom for the rest of this week. From my results so far, it seems I may be getting as good of battery life as I did with 2.3.2.

Anyone want to confirm what I am experiencing? (install the htc rom, and see if you get better batt life.)

Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.

excellent information, I will try the sprint stock rom with my sirus radio streaming and see if it is working better. I'll post the results tommorow after I have had a chance to play with it. I was convinced it was the radio, not the rom, but I did not think of leaving the stock rom to try.

Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.

Hmm... It seems that no2chems 5059 has somehow fixed my battery issues. I was using the official 3.35, which was why I started this thread.

I use my device fairly intensly. I play games about whenever I get a chance. I talk for about 30 minutes a day. I'm always tweaking WAD. By the time I have to charge it (8PM) the battery is at 30% which is impressive considering the backlight is on 90% and the amount I use the device.
