icevapor - My bad. Saw your other posts. User names all start to look the same after a while.

Good info too.

Still, I dread rolling back after I've finally got a good kitchen Rom saved, but just to see if it works I might try it.
Something to do when bored at work, ya now?

excellent information, I will try the sprint stock rom with my sirus radio streaming and see if it is working better. I'll post the results tomorrow after I have had a chance to play with it. I was convinced it was the radio, not the rom, but I did not think of leaving the stock rom to try.

t00ncin8r - I dont think my info has ruled out the possibility of a radio fault. My info just shows that I am getting better stand-bye battery life with the stock rom. I have not used the internet very much in the last 24 hrs. It could be that the 3.35 radio rom is as good as the 3.27 radio rom as long as you dont use the internet (not an option for most of us).

What I really believe is wrong with my phone, is that it was constantly connecting to the internet with dcd, nex, and no2chems roms. It was doing this with no programs installed. (was anyone else having this problem, I dont remember if anyone had said it was happening to them)

Update again:
it is 9:10 pm, my phone is at 30% (it dropped at about 6pm I think). I have used the internet once today, to sync to my scheduleworld.com account (scheduleworld is the best, I never have to backup my calendar, contacts, and tasks because they are synced on schedule world with then also sync's with google calendar, but thats for a separate thread :) )

I am going to charge my phone all night tonight, and keep track of everything I do tomorrow on the phone.

kraygh - no problem, its easy to miss something in these threads.

Amen, enough posts telling us life is rosy. I'm sure lots of people that barely use their phone are not having or noticing this problem. If you actually use your phone, can you reference a usage type (i.e how much time you spend on internet, chatting, using gps, etc) and how long you are getting in battery life with this radio compared to the last one? Also note, that if you put your phone in 1X only, I see much longer life, so for those of you in 1X area's, I doubt you will see a difference until you try some evdo surfing.

1X makes no difference, I am currently in a 1X only area (blacksburg VA), and I have crappier battery life than before. Granted, I haven't checked this rom back at home where EVDO, but as far as I know, being in 1X doesn't mean you won't have crappy battery life. as far as compared to EVDO, it makes sense since the radio is the reason it drains, so being in EVDO Rev. A may be a killer.

icevapor and all. . .

I have repeated my sirus streaming test with the sprint stock ROM and updates radio. Just to remind everyone, up until 3.35 radio and dcd ROM I could stream sirius radio over the internet to my bluetooth speakers through this phone for 4 hours. I have been used to this kind of performance since I got this phone. Since updating to 3.35 and dcd 3.0.1 ROM, 2 hours was the max, and usually getting to 2 hours was hard.

I have tested using the Sprint stock rom only, and there is a marginal improvement. Today I was able to stream for almost 3 hours, still not as good as past radio/roms but much better then barely two hours.

Also of note, I do not see any battery drop when the phone is in standby, not using it does not seem to effect me, but the moment I start checking email, talking and surfing the web, it drops, and drops fast. I saw a mention of someone saying no2chem's rom seemed better in battery, I may give that a try to see if its comparable to the sprint stock rom.

I charged my phone to 100% at about 4:30 AM. Less than 12 hours later I was down to about 11% battery. This is with Spb Mobile Shell running, that's it.

me and a coworker noticed mobile shell 2 was destroying our battery life, uninstalled, and having no problems now.

I don't want this thread to get lost so I am updating it with my findings.

I too believe that I got more battery life from my stock ROM and radio. On the other hand there is something to be said about the 1% battery utility. It gives the illusion that your battery is dying faster then if it were to stay at 70% for a few hours.

I have been running on the same charge since yesterday at 5pm which makes it over 30 hours now. I am at 65%. I didn't use the GPS but I did call some people and used some wi-fi. I noticed the most substantial drop in battery power after finishing a call. It went from 73% to 68% in like 2 minutes.

I suppose the GPS is pretty heavy on the battery and I was using it extensively after I first flashed the ROM (I was excited!). Now that I am using the phone moderately, I am back to my original usage, and if the battery lasts a couple of days I am happy.

After reading this thread I have to conclude that the main problem exists when using the radio intensive features (phone, GPS, wifi). It seems to drain much faster then on a stock ROM. I hope no2chem can look into this. Has someone sent no2chem a message so he is aware of this problem?
