OMG, guys!

I DID IT! I was so fricken nervous while the whole thing was going on that I just about threw up all over my keyboard! I followed the instructions exactly as stated, and I had no problems AT ALL! I'm so excited now to have it over and done with! Can't wait to play around with the GPS and all.

THanks SO mUCH to all that helped and input. Also for helping me to not brick my SECOND Phone! lol

extremely greatfull,

Hey Bad, I also don't have an unlimited data plan but a pay-as-you go plan (which you can add to any plan) and there is a very cost efficient GPS prog. I spent a week in SoCal using the GPS daily and used $2 worth of data; its Nav4All (www.nav4all.com). Many folks don't like it as its not graphics intensive but it gets you where you want to go with turn by turn text to speech. You will need a GPS keep alive (like GPSToday, Holux GPS view, or others) but its very accurate. Steep learning curve as not much documentation but I'm very pleased with it. Usually I'll start on WIFI at home or in a cafe and generate the route and then its totally free! If you miss a turn and it needs to recalculate its just pennies of data... Of course YMMV but I'm quite pleased.

Just an update, for those who care. Got VZ Tech Support to get me a fresh A-Key and everything is golden. I love the GPS functionality! I've only used google maps and live search with it though.

Love it.

yesterday I did the update as it says on this thread and the phone worked until 9ish at night and then i started getting the authentication message, so i just left it along. woke up this morning made a call and the phone is working all normal , send receive and etc. it was pretty surprising to see how it just started to work without me calling VZ. lets hope its going to stay up now.

someone correct me if im wrong but i think if you have programs such as TomTom that keeps the maps on your SD card then you can use those with our GPS chip and use the GPS completely free of charge. Im currently looking to find the program. once i test it i'll post the results

hey all, its been about a month since I have been on this forum. I have done a lot of searching and was wondering if anyone has come up with a solution for the verizon phone to make the GPS fine the Satellites faster. Right now its hit or miss sometimes its 2 or 3 minutes somtimes its 15.

First I thought this was just the way it was until my buddy did the update on his sprint phone and his syncs up in about 10 seconds. Thanks for the help in advance.

I have tried a few of them and the ONLY one i got to work properly, is the Holux Viewer.. it picks up my sats in about 15 seconds..
every time.
post found here. .. scroll down to get to the Holux link.

good luck.

correct in that it is an .exe file.. not a traditional CAB..
this just means that you have to install it via your PC, through an Active Sync connection..

so establish an active sync (assume you know how to do that, lemme know if not)...... then once connected, run the .exe file from your PC... it will then prompt you to install it on your phone..

pretty simple.. attaching the file here, for convenience.. let me know if you any Q's..

once it's installed on your phone, run it.. you have to change the setup to COM4 (you'll need to do this each time you run it), and then press the 'Open GPS' button.. keep toggling back and forth between the status and the setup tab, and when it gets a lock, the sat indicators will turn to Blue..
once it's locked, THEN open your gps app (Google, live search, tom tom, whichever).
