Is Roaming broken on the new 3.35 rom? (Sprint)
 

I did a little searching and I've been monitoring the discussion of this new rom, but I am running into a problem here.

I've heard some people say stuff like, "yay, evdo roaming is back!", etcetera, but I can't roam AT ALL on the new rom. I'm a SPRINT user by the way.

I noticed on the 3.16 rom, I could not roam, but chalked it up to the beta test file and all. But it's the same with the new one. When I force my phone to roam, the radio icon at the top shows roaming and 1x, but when I try to make a call, I get the "welcome to verizon wireless, we are unable to authenticate your phone" and I can't initiate any data sessions.

Back with the 2.17 rom, I was able to voice roan, and use data at 1x, but now I get nothing.

Is there some kind of PRL I need to update manually?

Here's my current information:
Rom version DCD 3.0 (but I had the same issue with 3.16 and 3.35 stock roms, just so I'm clear)
Radio 3.35.04
PRL 60610
PRI 2.00_003

Anybody have any ideas for this problem? I think it should be a simple answer, I just don't have my head in the game as much as I used to. Any suggestions or comments on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!



*edit...just to show I'm doing my due diligence, I did scrounge up something about having to call in and do a "HRL update"..I'll try that in the morning. In the meantime if you've got any comments on which PRL is best (60610/11) I'd appreciate that. I'd mainly like to get EVDO data roaming on Verizon if that's possible. I use my mogul most frequently as a data device, and occasionally as a phone.

half way here i have stock 217 before i swith to 335 stock i could evdo roam but now a ican i seen it pop up once on roaming but not no more i call sprint tech tier 2 and they say that there not letting roam data no more just calls that what he told me one tech the other one didnt repond to it

I had the same issue. Calling Sprint and asking for a HLR Reload fixed me right up. I had this problem before when I went from 2.17 to 3.16 also.

Note: It is a "HLR Reload", not a "HRL Reload" as you have said. Some people have said some Sprint reps didn't know what it was, however, I have had great success so far the 2 times I have had it done.

so will this fix if my evdo roaming use to work, but now it doesn't? i've been trying to figure this out forever!

because in my field trial app i can see the HDR signal but when i go to evdo only, that field trial page shows N/A N/A N/A everywhere

well i did the HLR Reload, but forcing EVDO still doesn't work.. i'll let you know if anything changes

Called in this morning, got a very friendly American-sounding lady, explained my problem, she agreed that the hlr update was exactly what needed done, updated it, told me to soft-reset my phone, and that fixed the verizon authentication while attempting to roam. it still shows the roaming triangle with 1x next to it, so I guess the guy who said he got EVDO roaming must have been roaming on alltel or something, but this will be fine.

i called and they tried a reload and it didn't work, then he said he had to manually enter the info and it would take a half an hour. so i tried later and still didn't work. i guess i gotta call back.

^I think it's the luck of the draw as to how competent of a CSR/Tech Support Agent you get. Maybe the next time you call they'll know how to do it right...

i called the number above and he did it no problem and said everything went thru and take out battery for like 4 min then turn on and it should be good to go..

but it will won't let me EVDO ROAM when i have the EVDO ONLY operation selected..

once in awhile i will see the Ev icon when i'm on hybrid mode.. :-/

i just want to force it on EVDO

I live in a sprint 1xrtt area and can only get evdo when i force roam on an older Rom.
Is roaming only not an option anymore? Did the new rom help your 1xrtt speeds any?
I only get 12-14kbsec in Lubbock, Texas.
