what's the diff between DCD and No2Chem's ROMs?

I don't really see any difference besides a few screens with an HTC theme. They're based on the same codebase right? What's the diff then?

Re: what's the diff between DCD and No2Chem's ROMs?

Good question!

I am trying to decide which one to use since I see excellent reviews on both, but nothing to make me choose a particular one.

What is the difference? How do you decide what to use?

I'm dying to do this, even though I'm really nervous, but what is the difference?

Re: what's the diff between DCD and No2Chem's ROMs?

no2chem has some more files than dcd's. that makes no2chem's rom faster. There is trade off. you loose memory space. With dcd's rom at boot time you will have 24-25 mb free , with no2chem's rom you will have 19-20 mb free at boot time.
DCD's rom has lots of cosmetic customization at well, such as dialer, calculator, comm manager etc.

Re: what's the diff between DCD and No2Chem's ROMs?

i've tried both and im really debating flashing back to stock...with both i have almost no memory...start off around 19MD...few hours later im around 10MB and apps start to close on their own

i've turned off HTC home (which i dispise because of its size)

i wanna rom without HTC home and without touchflo but have all the other things in DCD's rom

oh yea...with all new ROMs my battery isnt as good

How is it that more files = faster? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

just uninstall htc home and touchflo..but if your battery life is def worse on the roms, you can either try to cook one up yourself, or wait..

cant have it all

Re: what's the diff between DCD and No2Chem's ROMs?

I believe Dcd has been making roms longer (at least publically). Both no2chem and Dcd have worked together to compile the roms to which they both offer.

Dcd's are solid and have been around for quite some time. His roms usually have more ram to boot and come equipped with cosmetic touches such as dialer, comm manager, calculator, Today Screen, etc. In addition his roms are very fast, stable and bare which leaves plenty to add your own personality. Also, his roms are available in specific carrier-based packages whereas no2chems are Sprint based and data/connection labeled.

no2chem's rom includes many of Dcd's core rom features and but excludes some of the cosmetic appeal. However no2chem pioneers many of his self-made applications (nueLED, nueMMS, nueAudio, etc) and includes these within his roms. His rom do not boot with as much available ram but have a few more applications & features which (in my opinion) negate the offering of available ram on boot.

I have used both with equal enthusiasm, fondness and level of success but I have been using no2chem's rom almost exclusively since his 5044 release; currently running 5051 with great success...

Re: what's the diff between DCD and No2Chem's ROMs?

Both are the best. I've used both. As most have said, DCD's is more "basic" while no2chem's is more feature rich.

Personally, I use DCD, then cook in nueLed and nueAudio and readd the voice speed dialer and I have my perfect ROM.
