6.1
Threaded SMS!!! And the phone *IS* faster/more responsive. I dont know what settings were changed... but I notice the difference. |
6.1 seems snappier than 6. I guess it includes bug fixes and optimized codes???
|
It is a trade off I guess. WM6.1 get lest memory available as well. 2.17 has 26meg, 3.16 has 24meg, now 6.1 has 22meg available .
|
Im loving the 6.1 the only thing i dont like about it as of now is the fact there are no smileys like there were in the otehr threaded sms and it doesnt have a counter for the amount of letters i am typing......but like everyone said its great and i thank the community for their great work

Most of the RAM that gets sucked up by the OS is basically cached RAM. If you look under the task manager, an application could be running that takes up 9MB, yet the system shows that 19MB of program memory is in use. If you go and open another up, it reduces the cache and frees up more RAM.
I tested this by getting the phone down really low in memory with Opera (not hard at all), and then launching the camera - the camera didn't complain about too little memory being available and it was able to be used. I had Live Search with GPS, Opera open with two tabs (Engadget and Gizmodo to be specific), Word open with a letter and I was still able to use all three programs. No slowdown to speak of and Live Search didn't crash due to being out of memory like it did on 6.0. In fact, I've had no out of memory errors as of yet and I'm not closing all of my apps (though I still close some) or using Oxios like I had to before. |
How many apps did you able to open before it ran out of memory?
|
I haven't actually tested it to get an out of memory error yet... but I can tell you that running Opera Mobile exclusively with a single window on Engadget.com in desktop mode would cause me to be unable to even launch the camera app on previous ROMs and I couldn't run Live Search either. It always crashed.

WM 6.1 is the winner so far. Speed increase is just awesome. It is actually faster then WM5 on the Titan.
|
Speed, Threaded SMS and VC Confirmation working, what's not to like?!
|
I like wm6
its faster but now I need to add everything that no2chem deleted but I have one small prob when I open wmp, pie, word, messenger then while opening camera I don't get out of memory error but some of the running programs get closed automatically. can I stop this? or is it normal? but well in the end I still prefer 6.1 over 6.0 |
6.1 hands down
threaded sms speed even at 5mb my phone is as fast as a soft reset memory leak is not as bad as 6.0 |
i like wm6 better because its blue instead of green :P
|
I used the leaked 3.16 for a few then I went to DcDs 2.0 and it worked great. then I went to DcDs 6.1 and I got some bugs. Like the internet disconects and a few small other things. I personally am going to stay with the 3.16 for a while.
|
I'm loving using No2Chem's 6.1 ROM! Extremely speedy and the threaded SMS is nice to have :)
|
The PIE in 6.1 is an improvement, too. It's much faster (but still slow), has a cool "zoom out" feature, and doesn't double-size images.
6.1... no brainer. |
6.1 is faster, but the Threaded SMS sucks. I prefer Palm Threaded SMS over it. However, with Palm SMS installed, the entire Messaging app ceases to work. I will wait until this is resolved, or at least I hope it will be.
|
I'll let you know after I get the 6.1

Note: Confirmation on the handset has always worked. Does it solve volume of VC over BT issues as well? |
