VZW 3.16 custom rom
 

Everything is working fine in my first custom rom based off of the 3.16 rom from sprint. Big thanks to dcd, llama, and dogguy for their excellent work!

do a soft reset as soon as "customizing your device" message comes up. I forgot to change that setting, but im updating the rom right now so i will load it up later tonight.

I used llama's sprint rom with dogguys tools to make the kitchen. removed the sprint customizations and then added vzw ones.

EDIT: to get GPS working you have to go to phone>menu>options>services>location setting- get settings> and click location on. Then go to your map of choice and enable GPS. it might take a minute to find satalites, but it works!

Great work. I couuldnt get DCDs beta rom to connect to *228, but phone calls worked normally. Here's to hoping it works with yours!

Being a noob and having had a very bad experience that required a replacement phone recently, can you please post a direct link to the new bootloader and new radio rom that you referenced in the first post?

I looked through all 60 plus pages of the original post and several others and I just don't want to use the wrong files and get stuck locked back to Sprint towers again. Thanks.

During the customization it said a .exe could not be found. Sorry I did not write the file name down

Ok, I am having the same problem as I was with DCDs rom. Everything flashes ok. When I try to use *228 it tells me the feature code I entered is not valid. If I make a local call it tells me I must use the area code, so I use the area code I can make calls.

If I flash back to the Verizon Stock rom everything works just fine.

Any ideas?

Pleased to report that I loaded to phone and everything is running great - no bugs to report. Loaded without problem, GPS works fine, phone works fine. Very nice rom.

Only question I had is that the program memory is at 13 right after soft reset. Seems low - but everything runs really quick so many not matter.

Did you have to do something special when putting 05_OS.nb into the nbh so that it will do more than "ILLEGAL COMMAND" at 1% flash? I used the Dutty NBH tool patched for Titan to make my ruu_signed.nbh and it won't flash beyond 1% after installing the new Hard-SPL.

i just pulled llama's nbh, ran dog guy's tools to create the kitchen, then sifted through to get everything i wanted out and threw some of my own stuff in.

I got a chgscutattri.exe doesnt exist once phone ran customizations. It was at a hung state. Soft reset fixed problem. Just fyi. Quite a ROM. Love it!

Question ref HTC Home... What do you recommend me doing in adding additional themes for customization? The Customizer program doesn't have a whole lot to offer.

I keep getting the Error 262: Update Error when trying to run the new Hard-SPL unlocker. Device screen is stuck on a progress bar at 0%. I unzipped it and ran the RUU in side and it attempted to install the Hard-SPL 2.40. I assume this is the correct first step? There were about 20 files in the Extracted folder. The RUU is the right one to run correct? I have an existing ActiveSync connection when starting it. Ideas?


***NEVERMIND.......I'm an idiot. I didn't read the whole post first. Specifically says "note: This update can not be run by extracting the files and just running the RUU." Lesson to self: Always read the directions!

HOLY CRAP - - - - - -
I have used it now for about 4 hour's and its pretty stable. The speed of the EVDO is our rageous. im getting 1300 down and 500 up hell there is some dsl services that can't even do that. Now for what everyone is asking about and doing. The GPS does take a little while to config. it self but once it does it finds the satt. quickly. As far as the install this is the Best way i can tell you how to do it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=362563) i followed to a T and had not but good results.

I was able to install this ROM with virtually no problems. GPS works great, Voice and data work flawlwessly, text is on the money. Will be checking my EVDO speeds tomorrow.

This is exactly why these forums are sooo great! 15 years ago it would have taken months for any of this to have taken place and be build and be released. Now, because of these forums, there is a place for all of the knowledgeable people in a particular field to get together and "brainstorm". Today, less than 96 hours after the "leak", we have an operational, functioning ROM for this device on at least two carriers (maybe more).

oh cool, glad to see a VZW 3.16 custom ROM. I might have to check this out, but I think I'll wait a little bit till DCD releases one of his "clean" versions as theres alot of apps I wouldn't use

I've got the alltel custom rom and, for some reason, the start menu isn't showing up. Any ideas?

DCD released a ROM hours after the leaked Sprint ROM came out. It's over at XDA.

i dont customize it much, just add my home town to weather and take out the music tab (i havent bought a card to put music on yet so this tab seems pointless to me) and the launcher. there are some themes you can download for the customizer, some look pretty cool so check em out.

development on this rom is on hold, dont have as much free time over the week to test/ retest/ flash/ cook/ test and all that.

Quick question to senior members using my rom:
if i up'd my kitchen would yall want it? any changes you make to it i would like sent back to me (kinda GPL'd lol) as long as they improve it. That way we could have a vzw kitcen workin ;)

download ruu.rar, extract, place th nbh into the ruu folder, run romupgradeutility

I know development has been placed on hold, but the rom has been removed. I only see an Alltel Rom your folder now. Can it be uploaded again?

So ... all this madness about the vzw A-Key .... is it needed for your rom?

Yes, the only time you will need the a key is when you change the bootloader no matter what rom you use. Its easy to get all you got to do is call #8899 and tell them you need a new akey and they will give you one now to make things easier just tell them you know how to program you phone and that you are a software dev. and you do alot of hard resets, and when they give it to you make sure you write it down so you don't have to call them back.

i halted my rom building till i can get a 6.1 kitchen built and stable. i will re-up my r3 file for you guys tho

sorry to threadjack, esp. since i have a sprint phone, but why TRE instead of PHM or some other reg editor? TRE does not have search.

total commander is on there too. that was just built into llama's kitchen for my older releases, my r3 doesnt have that.

I am not seeing any Verizon ROM under your folder Angel. Are you planning on posting that or are you waiting until your 6.1 ROM is done?
