@ neodorian
I didnt have any of the problems you are experiencing. GPS worked for me without hard reset, and I get a signal instantly even though I am in a terrible area for signal strength. Also I am pretty sure I can still roam on verizon. Did you change any settings on your phone? |
im having a hard time (even harder than usual) getting activesync to connect, half the time it doesnt even recognize that anything is plugged in
when it does it installs a new LAN connection and tries to pull an IP (as if internet sharing were running but it isnt) AS never connects while this is trying to get an IP, so it just times out of the few times its connected i usually lose the connection within 5 minutes i went back to 2.17 and AS worked as it usually does, upgraded to 3.16 and same problems again |
Its really strange to see so many degrees of success or issues, but for me it was a breeze.
1. I relocked my phone 2. I then activesynced 3. I then ran the new rom 4. Full upgrade without a hitch(yes it was that easy, of course my fingers were crossed the entire time) I didn't have to hard reset again, I didn't need anything to be reprovisioned. Even during the upgrade it didn't freeze or lock up or anything it went right through from 0% to 100%. I have since re-loaded all my usual programs and have used my phone all day for the usual stuff plus messing with gps and I haven't had one single issue. |
My installation hung quite badly, but this was probably due to a combination of using the olipro bootloader and Vista. I was eventually able to recover by re-flashing the current official ROM, re-locking (which I thought I'd before ever starting, but it appeared not to have taken), then finding an XP machine. I was NOT able to load the new ROM from a freshly-formatted (FAT32) microSD card - it hung at about 11% then gave a bad flash error message. Nothing happened to my MDN or MSID during the process.
Thus far, I can't get any GPS stuff to work. Since I don't have any other software installed besides Google Maps, I suppose I mean I can't get GM to work. No, I haven't messed with any settings. Yes, I did stand outside in the snow under a clear blue sky for 20 minutes. It is conceivable that this may be related to the fact that there is no cellular service near my house. I was connected via a fast WiFi connection, though. Google Maps just says "12 KB. Seeking GPS satellites (0)..." alternating with "12 KB. GPS active(0)..." I don't know if this is really a bug or just misconfiguration. |
My google maps woundnt find me until I used Live Search to locate me, then google maps popped right in.
Also this ROM puts a voicemail icon on the 1 key which screws up the keypad if you are using bluefrogs big button dialer. To Correct this just change the key at HKCU/Control Panel/PhoneExtendedFunction/CDMA/Enablevoicemailicon change the value to 0 and soft reset. I have also noticed that I lot of downloads hang, have good coverage and they hang at various places, but I couldnt download livesearch cab from my phone, it also happed to another couple of files |

Well, I was testing out MS Voice Command. The good news is that you can now confirm your commands through a BT headset (ex: "Dial 555-2424" "Dial 555-2424?" "Yes").
Bad news, I can't actually hear the text-to-speech engine anymore. Lol! It still responds to my commands, but the confirmations won't play through either the headset or the speaker. Also, I notice that my phone sometimes hangs for about ten seconds or so when waking up. It does this about 15% of the time. GPS through Google Maps and Sprint Nav works perfectly, though. Rev A seems to be working. Although the download is only marginally better than Rev 0 in my area, the upload is noticeably better. Went from around 40 k to 150 k. Almost no lag time in surfing through the phone-as-modem anymore. So yeah, the only major thing I've found so far is the lack of voice for MS Voice Command. |
I am impressed
I have the mogul and was running version 2.17 before installing everything was stock ROM and this install is stock also. Very excited about Navigation being implemented and GPS working also.
1) Have been trying to get sprint TV to work but after initializing and out of 3 options and choosing sprint TV it just sits there like it is trying to load channels. 2) Sprint Navigation did take a few times of starting it, to get it all initialized and working but now that it is setup it is working great. 3) I also am having some issues with Microsoft Voice Command 1.6, have not gotten voice dialing to work yet using this program, Cyber Voice speed dial seems to work but I cannot stand having to make tags. Will add more as I notice them, and I hope this was there intention for us to beta test it and get feedback, it sure would make sense. |
Ok,
I didn't want to be the one to post this thread but it seemed no one else was bringing up these subjects. I cannot test the ROM myself right now for several reasons. I have a new computer that came with Vista so installing is more of a pain for me. I listed to audiobooks downloaded from my local libraries overdrive-based service which have a form of DRM on them to enforce a 14 day check-out period. Once loaded onto a device you have forever to listen to them, but after 14 days the version on your computer is gone and cannot be reloaded to the device. So, if I reload my OS I lose the audiobook I am in the middle of, which right now is 'The Coldest Winter' about the Korean War and is rather long. Third, I am writing the final pages of my MS thesis and I am rather busy. But there is nothing wrong with me not being in a good situation to be a beta tester. The bad thing will be if the people who do test the ROM do not test it in a good useful way and everyone ends up using some hacked combination of 3.16 beta, 2.17, other radios, 3rd party software, and registry hacks that they find most stable. Probably Sprint/HTC can't practically release such a frankenstein monster build. So, it would be nice if some of those testing 3.16 try to test it with a fairly vanilla install and try to find consensus on problems it has and list them concisely. I see one thread on the problems of 3.16 and whether it is better or worse. The title and OP are riddled with spelling and grammatical errors. This is not the stuff that will convince Sprint/HTC that our community should be allowed to beta test. Beta testing is about finding bugs in what we are given so fixes can provide stability. It is not about hacking to find the best stability from present and past code cominations and then testing that combo of present and past code. Even if the leak was not intentional. The response to the leak could still give Sprint/HTC a picture of how well beta testing officially would or would not work. Again, I have no right to be the one saying this, it is just that nobody else did. I would hope that some responsible involved member of the community who is a better human being than me can attempt to start a new concise organized thread to document bugs, rather than building their own 3.16/2.16/7/Vogue/Kaiser/1.47/olipro/noextdrom/etc kitchen. |
