I will give it a shot, I only see one other Kitchen there 110507 but I will give that a shot.

Have you ever tried this web based FTP client:

http://www.net2ftp.com/

stroths 11-29-2007 01:17 PM

Technically I can get into the FTP, but it woud be a bad idea to do so from here.

scotbotmosh 11-29-2007 02:13 PM

Gotcha.

My rom is burning in right now...before I burned it though the RUU application stated that my updated ROM version would be 2.16? I am assuming this has something to do with the RUU app we are using, considering I have never downloaded a version of 2.16. I would have expected it to read 2.17. Is this normal?

Edit:

Verified this did burn 2.17 in, although it stated the version that it was updating to was 2.16. This worked thanks guys!

stroths 11-29-2007 02:48 PM

The 2.16 is in a text file in Dogguy's kitchen which I discovered as I ran into the same issue. You can change it, but it doesn't seem to matter.

I don't remember the file name its in, but if you do a windows search in that directory and type 2.16 in the "containing text" field you will find it.

\Tools\Titan_nbh.txt .... Just the information utilized by nbhgen at the end of the build process. You can edit this to include pointers to a Radio, SPL, or Splash Screens if you are so inclined to include those in your rom build.

Thanks for the help. I have been creeping in on this kitchen thing for bout the last month. Next step is to get into creating my own OEM's but the registry stuff seems like it may get a bit hairy...

omegax 11-29-2007 04:21 PM

come on people .. upload your OEMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

stroths 11-29-2007 06:48 PM

I got most of my OEMs from the Apache WM6 kitchen. There are also many on the FTP under Dogguy's directory.

sfaure03 11-29-2007 06:51 PM

Running a 2.17 + Touch BT + Apache-WK.7 on the phone.. Life is sweet.

Is there any way to avoid "file already exist error"?

Find the duplicate file and remove it. That's about all I have been able to do.

Nope. Bepe's BuildOS can be obnoxious that way. Its for that reason that once I finish my other project I'll get back to separating everything out with option.xml's for the new base. When thats done, you simply need to Uncheck the conflict and check the OEM you'd rather use, and all should be well.

Gimme a bit of time. Still going back and forth on whether to use 2.17 or 2.14 and Vogue hybrid for the new base. Need some more time with both.

You mean removing the OEM completely?

When BuildOS tells you which file already exist, use windows explorer search for the same file name that's inside the "OEMAPPS" (or maybe "SYS"?) and remove them...

to0 12-02-2007 05:47 PM

Be sure to use the advanced search options to include hidden and system files in the search.

digiblur 12-02-2007 07:18 PM

I've been watching the custom ROM scene for quite some time. I'm getting ready to dive into making custom ROM's and custom applications. I've been writing apps for Windows for several years at work so I'd consider my self to be more than average on this kind of stuff.

I downloaded the DogGuy base but it won't compile even just the base out of the box with no mods. I end up with some error messages and no ROM file. Does anyone have a simple guide to get started? I started playing with the package creator for converting some CABs to OEMs and I think I've got most of those going but I'd like to make sure before I start flashing some bad stuff to my phone.

Vertigo 12-02-2007 07:41 PM

try the sticky @ http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=14 from how to make custom ROM's to how to create OEM's from cab files. hope it helps!

digiblur 12-02-2007 11:41 PM

Yep...got most of it down now. Still playing around with the different methods of making OEM's. Very cool...

friguy3 12-29-2007 03:11 PM

anyone using this on verizon? or can i be used on verizon? used dcd's rom and liked it but trying to see what the differences are.

edit: well it works. there is a nice sprint screen on start up, but hey. The camera doesnt have the MMS pic profile but you can change the 250kb size to 350 and use that to send MMS. anyone able to do a comparison on these 2 kitchens?

There are also the customizations that want to run, i assume those are sprint specific?

Did you use the Beta4 version by chance? I ran into a jam installing mine, but may try it again if you installed that ver.

friguy3 12-29-2007 06:47 PM

hmmm...not sure, but i switch back to DCDs b/c there was too much sprint on there. I tried to send a MMS, it sent fine, then the whole thing started freaking out that it couldnt connect to the vision network. i think this is a "newer" wm6 version, but i can live for now.

ksquake 01-04-2008 10:33 AM

I am curious too if DogGuys Kitchen will work for Verizon VZ6800's as well.

courtlandre 01-08-2008 01:24 AM

How do I add an application? Say I want to cook in a game and I have the cab file... What do I do with the cab?

gguruusa 01-08-2008 02:01 AM

You get Tiermann's OEMizer, and hope it works on your .cab (some are just too complex to turn into an OEM easily or at all).

Thanks, I figured out how to use the OEMizer... kinda. I will plunk along some more and see what happens.

jayweezie21 01-08-2008 10:28 PM

lovin the kitchen dogguy...thanks for that pm or i prob wouldve never tried it out...

few apps/games you should add to the oem list though..
pocketcm
spades
maybe some sort of themes.cab w numerous themes on it
pocket sportscenter
opera
mars weatherpanel...i just look out the window for the weather but just for others
maybe like an emulator program for nes / snes and such? everyone can get the roms on there own bc of legal restrictions..

i tried to give ya some ideas of freeware and such...i can compile them all and upload to the ftp if necessary in your directory....

well when i sober up that is...

lemme know man! thanks for a great kitchen!

davidgelb 01-09-2008 02:59 PM

If this has already been answered, please forgive me. I did a search but had no luck...

Is there a clean version of the Kitchen with the original 2.17 Sprint ROM? I would like to use the clean version with just some of my additional CABS.

Please let me know or if there is a way to revert DogGuy's kitchen back to the clean Sprint ROM.

Thanks!
-David

paynej 01-09-2008 10:01 PM

David,

Delete the ROM, SYS, and OEM directories (back them up first).

Then copy/rename the sprint rom into the kitchen directory as input.nbh.

Run prepit.bat.

You now have a kitchen built from the sprint rom.

angel12 01-09-2008 10:06 PM

any way to remove the sprint customizations from the kitchen? that way everyone can use it...

a1jatt 01-12-2008 10:49 PM

if you remove OEMOPERATORS folder it removes all the sprint stuff..

only problem is it still tries to run the customization prog when you boot it first time after hard reset. So there must be a registry key or something to remove that.

vMAC 01-13-2008 03:47 PM

Ok here's a question, I want to use this kitchen the first one that I used had some of the things that I wanted but other settings that I put in the OEMizer didn't work? If I drag a cab over to OEMizer is it just going to put the cab file in my /Windows directory or is it actually going to install it on the phone? I don't want the cab just put into the folder that's pointless to me. Any help would be apprecaited.

vMAC 01-13-2008 04:28 PM

Nevermind my last post, I'm an idiot. So I figured out what my problem was, the other question that I have is when I run OEMizer, what should I put in the folder box? Currently I'm putting "\OEM" in that box, is that correct?

davidgelb 01-13-2008 06:15 PM

Hi VMac - if you want to run a CAB in OEMizer, you need to click "Import CAB." That will allow OEMizer to import the CAB, add the files to the CAB and import the registry strings.

If you just drag a CAB to the files window, it will simply put the CAB on your PPC, but will not run it.

Just make sure that if you do import a CAB, that you set the directory correctly. If there is an Initflashfiles in the CAB, it will tell you where everything needs to be moved to on your PPC and you can set the directory accordingly.

Does that help you at all? Let me know if you have any other questions. It took me a while to get to understand this, and I am happy to help anyone who is trying to learn.

Thanks,
David

vMAC 01-14-2008 03:34 AM

Thank you for that advice, it worked, now I have Kaiser Home Plug-in, X-button, and StayUnlock included in my ROM along with other things built-in to by DogGuy. Tomrrow I will work on getting full programs like Resco included......if that's possible? Anyways thank you all for your help.

SpecialAgentSicari 01-16-2008 07:58 PM

DogGuy, is there something in your rom that keeps terminating the active data connection?

badutahboy 02-01-2008 02:45 PM

Quick question.. I'm trying to build a rom using the new 3.16 core.

When I go to build OS, I get the "file already exists" error on several items relating to MS office and Arcsoft MMS. The core I'm using doesn't include either.

I've gone into the search and cannot find any duplicate entries. The only entries the system finds are the entry in the OEM folder and the one moved to the dump folder.

Any idea what's causing this/how to fix it? I'm killing myself trying to figure out what's up.

When you do the search of dupe files, make sure you included and enable the hidden files.
