Glad to see you in the thread, JBabey. Maybe you can help me out a little with your extensive knowledge of ROM cooking. I'm still a little new to this game.

thanks. Honestly this is a first for me!!! but hopefully when a official kitchen is made a good tutorial comes wit it.

The official kitchen will be much more point and click. This is just an adaptation of the original Command Line Kitchen Maker I posted not so long ago. This version happens to include a good base, but the other one has more in-depth hacking information in it's ReadMe. Once again, this kitch *can* bork your device, and is not intended for novices. To learn more about the process, I suggest heading to the Apache forum's and reading the How To's from Wideawake on how it was done pre-kitchen.

Also, as was pointed out, any time you have a bad flash you will generally get stuck at one of the splash screens. Simply put your phone back in bootloader with a Power-Camera-Soft Reset, and flash a new rom. This kitchen will not touch the SPL, Radio, etc, so it is highly unlikely you will truly brick your device once that HardSPL Unlocker is installed.

Good luck to all,
- DogGuy

Heh, until not so long ago, I preferred working with a dump and no package tool / no BuildOS, so I completely understand where you're coming from. ;)

If you are breaking out the OEMAPPS into folders, would you mind including the default original wm6 dialer, even as a "false" checked OEM. Im a huge fan and my own efforts in removing the touch dialer keep giving me a blank dialer LoL. Anyways just wanted to thank you for getting me back into a kitchen especially since my 6700 took a shit on me a few days ago.

Thanks! and keep up the great work.
Unfortunately the day / night really got away from me, and I don't have time to clean up a new release before heading out. I'll be returning on Sunday, and at the moment the plan is to test another incarnation or two of this base to see if more kinks are worked out, and to locate a "cleaner" OEMApps. Once done, I'm going to separate all of the original included apps, and leave them as optional OEMs in the next release. So you will definitely have a choice between Comm Managers, Dialers, et al.

Good to see you back playing with a kitch Big J. :thumbright:

I'm glad to see this is working out pretty good for everyone. I've been busy for the past few days and haven't had time to put much of my efforts into ROM development. I'll do my best to make some time and do some testing with this kitchen/ROM. I'll also try some other things with different ROMs and see what I come up with.

Keep posting any bugs you find guys. Anything at all. Even if it's just a little annoyance that you find.

jamesus 11-21-2007 01:14 PM

Random Issue - And this isn't just with this base...it's happened to me with the 2.09 stock ROM.

If I have my device turned off (via pushing and holding the power button) and a reminder notification goes off during the time the phone is off, the phone freezes while booting at the Windows Mobile green screen. Seems to me that the reminder notification goes off, and then the phone stops loading.

Anyone else see this issue? I know there is a different type of alarm issue with the 2.09 base, but this is different.

I havent suffered that issue myself in about 10 flashes, but i am having a weird issue where the phone randomly thinks there is no radio. its there,,,,, if i reflash the stock sprint software it works fine, but randomly ill build a rom and the radio is there but the phone just doesnt realize it.

I dunno, struggling, but a good rom is in the works...

](*,)

PS anyone know where/if the extended rom unlocker went to or if it went away because it wasnt working properly... thanks!

It wasn't working properly, so not sure what happened to the development of it.

And I had the damn reminder / device freeze today again...ugh...

DogGuy 11-26-2007 07:17 PM

jamesus: On the freezing, I had heard of the issue with 2.09, but never successfully recreated it personally.

New rom hopefully wont be using 2.09. More testing is needed. Development is a little slow because I just got back from vacation, and am *hoping* that HTC actually releases a new base for us, that works the way it should.

Big J: This kitchen doesn't create anything other than the OS core. When you say it doesn't recognize the radio, what exactly happens? Its possible there is a problem with the rilphone module and the newer core build. I haven't heard of this happening for anyone else though.

im hoping to have a beta up late tonight if you wanna give it a whirl on the reminder issue. If its the same issue that the 6700 was having w/ reminders (back in the aku 2.x era) then youll need updated sys files... i can try and hybrid some files from aku 070 from the apache but that will take me some time.

have you tried pimbackup or are your old-skooling it and copying your whole pim file? also give memmaid v2 a whirl it has an uber notification error checker in the main program (2nd tab on the bottom).

PM me if you need a link

actually, if you delete ANY of the wma files from the ROM prior to flashing it wont find the radio.... pisses me off cuz they take up like a meg and a half of space. I remembered having that issue on the 6700 when i tried to replace that stupid mozart ringer. anyways if you know of a way to rid those files and not have the phone take a shit on you im all ears haha.

thanks!

Yea...I vaguely remember the Apache issue.

I use PimBackup as a...well...on the fly backup, but I actually use Outlook (since my company won't open the exchange server...different can of worms there).

I use MemMaid and make sure that my notification queue is cleaned up almost every day. Seems to me the notification problem is for reminders, etc taht have not been triggered yet.

How about finding a 1 second long blank sound file and renaming it a bunch of times? Might be worth a shot!

scotbotmosh 11-28-2007 02:11 PM

do you go about changing the boot screen in this kitchen any different than how we created it in the 6700 kitchen?

omegax 11-28-2007 02:15 PM

which "bootscreen"

scotbotmosh 11-28-2007 02:27 PM

The very first splash screen that you see. Although it looks as if the mogul has 1 or 2 more splash screens than the Apache did.

scotbotmosh 11-28-2007 02:29 PM

Upon my first build I droped Arcsoft MMS in and HTC Audio manager in.
Arcsoft gave me an error saying that audiostrmreader.dll already existed in the \temp\dump folder.

HTC audio gave me an error stating aaa_reader.dll also already existed in the \temp\dump folder.

I unchecked these from my BuildOS screen and it compiled the ROM just fine. In the future what can I do to fix or work around this issue?

Thanks Dog!

scotbotmosh 11-28-2007 02:55 PM

Another bug. When setting up my Hotmail account it usually automatically takes me to the Windows Live install and configuration screen. However when I type my email address in and it goes to find the settings automatically it says click Next to continue...and it just hangs there. Any ideas. I ran into something similar with Verizon Guys kitchen on my apache..this is what fixed it. However I am unsure of the CLSID in this kitchen

Nice catch. When I converted the new live cab to an oem package, I missed that.

Changing
Default=%CE2%\WLMContactsProvider.dll
to just
Default=WLMContactsProvider.dll
and
DLL=%CE2%\WLMMailTransport.dll
to
DLL=WLMMailTransport.dll

in the oem's rgu would fix the problem.

Granted this is a mute point now with the new kitchen being out ;)

Not a bug, just a function (failing?) of the bepe BuildOS unfortunately. GGuru's great new buildOS handles conflicts much better. Right now, myself and a few others are taking the approach of separating out all of the OEM base (and the conflicts in SYS as well) and leaving them as optional. So, for example, if you want the original dialer, you would leave in the OEMsp_TitanDialer, and SYS_Phone_DPI_96... but if you preferred the vogue dialer you would uncheck those two and leave in OEM_VogueDialer ... its taking some work to get this done, especially since we haven't all agreed on the base. :P

As soon as I get my main desktop back up I'm going to put up a new version of the kitchen with a nicer, cleaner, SYS. Not the hacked job of the universal that the current one uses. Next release after that will hopefully have most of the OEM directory separated out for easy on/off.

scotbotmosh 11-28-2007 04:02 PM

I got the Windows Live account to work. I re-built the ROM and left out Windows Live. Once the phone was up and running I installed the Windows Live Cab. I should have dropped it into the OEMizer and made an OEM for it but I am not a Jedi with that tool as of yet.

Also the picture mail doesn't work like it should when you go to view a picture. However I was able to install the cab found in this thread here and that fixed it.

Glad to be rid of all that stock Sprint software..

A specific directory on the FTP site would be nice.

ok i know this is a really stupid question but i want to learn how to cook my own roms, so the only way to learn is ask. So i see everyone is cooking stuff up but im still completly confused. If i have a cab file and i would to have it in a custom rom how do i go about doing that cause as of right now using this set of programs im kinda lost...Thanks to anyone that is willing to help!

scotbotmosh 11-28-2007 05:25 PM

If you have a cab file you have to port it into what is called an OEM. That may be a little over your head. Lucky for you alot of the cab files on here have already been ported over to OEM's. Start with downloading a kitchen and reading the readme file, that way you will get a good feel for the whole process and begin to grasp the terminology. If you need to find a certain OEM just search it out using the search feature here. Then you can just copy that OEM into the OEM folder of the kitchen, and when you lauch BuildOS.exe it should show up as an option that you can check. Now weather it will actually work or not when your phone comes up that is another issue...

Alright, I have two requests for folks following this thread.

Request one: If you have a known-to-work OEM for this kitchen, that you would like to share with the community and potentially have included in an OEM_Pack AddOn, please upload to the Titan\Users\DogGuy\Kitchen OEMs\ directory. If you guys get a good collection going quickly, it'll make the AddOn pack much easier for me to put out.

Request two: If you're so inclined..... I have an almost completely stock rom (just some crude removed, nothing added) in my dir of the ftp. It's called "214 and Vogue Hybrid.rar". This will most likely be the new base for the next release of the kitchen. SYS is much cleaner, OEM is 2.14 and Vogue all mixed together. I need folks to test this rom, and provide me feedback on the: BT Quality for both parties, Memory Management (release from Cache compared to 2.16), and Battery Life.

If you would like to aide in testing this rom, simply download that rar and flash the included .nbh. Make sure to Hard Reset after flashing, and soft-reset *before* customizations!

Thanks for everyone's help,
- DogGuy

omegax 11-29-2007 01:59 AM

I started uploading ones that I have tested. If you could do me a favor and break up the oemApps folder that would help alot.. There is so much going on there that when you add oems its conflicting with files in oemApps. Also find that an oem does not work POST HERE... dont delete it off the ftp because I will just upload it again. Let me know the error and I will fix it right away.

Anyone else wanna test some oems and post?!?!?

omegax 11-29-2007 02:03 AM

AudioManager has known conflicts with the kitchen. I think I have removed all duplicates. If you get and error let me know

stroths 11-29-2007 03:07 AM

I used the kitchen with the new 2.17 ROM with no issues so far (crossing fingers).

phuangk 11-29-2007 03:11 AM

Hi DogGuy, thank you for your hard work with "214 and Vogue Hybrid.rar"
This is what i have done for my kitchen.

I removed the following items be4 I start my own kitchen.
Anything says "Enterprise" under "SYS" folders *REMOVED*
Anything says "Windows Live" under "SYS" folder "REMOVED*

I had installed the following in my Kitchen
- TomTom6 Navigator
- HTC 10 Button CommManager (Required to remove some dupe files)
- Touch Dialer (Required to remove some dupe files)
- HTC Album
- HTC Task Manager 1.51.30229.1
- Oxios Memory
- HTC Home 2.0.30740
- PHM Reset
- SoftKey Applet
- WM5torage (This one is never works on my 6800, guess this is not for Titan?)
- Total Commander
- Windows Live 10.6.33.0600
- Touch Cube + TouchFLO
- ActiveSync Setup with my company's exchange server

Free Program Memory = 21.68MB
So far I haven't experience any conflicts with the Kitchen
I don't have any bluetooth headset to test for the bluetooth quality
I have an external Bluetooth GPS Receiver that I used pretty often, I'll test bluetooth with that and let you know if I have experience any issue. (I never have any issue with bluetooth GPS receiver with any Titan ROM be4.)

Oh, Forget to state this, I think it has something to do with AllTel's ROM. When the very first time i made a phone call, it created 4 to 5 AllTel phone # into my contact list. I have to remove "HTC_CM_Guardian.lnk and HTC_CM_Guardian.exe from Kitchen" to prevent that happen.

omegax 11-29-2007 04:27 AM

OK can you upload your oems?

Stroths how do you go about using this kitchen with the 2.17 ROM?

omegax 11-29-2007 11:38 AM

there was a tool with dogguys other kitchen that would break down the rom I think thats tool is still floating around on xda-devs

stroths 11-29-2007 11:54 AM

omegax is right. I used his other kitchen (without the BT Rom built in). Seems to work fine with this ROM as it has with previous versions.

scotbotmosh 11-29-2007 11:57 AM

The hunt is on..thanks guys.

scotbotmosh 11-29-2007 12:07 PM

hmm just doing a search for Dogguy on XDA has yielded very few results. Dogguy can you assist me here. I am looking for a tool that you may have included in a past kitchen that would allow me to break down the ROM?

thanks again!

omegax 11-29-2007 12:34 PM

He is actually working on getting that rom ready himself.

scotbotmosh 11-29-2007 12:39 PM

The anticipation is killing me..ha ha. Getting a new ROM reminds me of when I was dating and you meet a new girl, you are all excited because it is fresh and new, but in the back of your head you know it is going to be a whole new list of problems...

stroths 11-29-2007 12:43 PM

Scot, did you check the ftp site? That's where I got it originally, but I can't access it from here at work.
