phone numbers in contact list have plus sign

ok, so i synced my contact list between facebook and outlook using myphoneexplorer, but now most of my phone numbers in the contact list on my epic have a + sign before them and when you tell the phone to call the number, sprint tells you it can not call because of the + before the number. anyone else have this happen and how do you remove it and set it to not happen again?
