where to start?

so i've had my epic for a week and this thing's great. i've been reading like crazy trying to figure everything out, but i'm confused. i was an avid tp2 flasher but i'm behind on the android thing. eb13, ext4, dl15, ls45, etc. i don't know which is the way to go or what the process is to get from out of box to custom. i'm concerned that i'm reading out of date material along with current stuff. is there a place that explains everything or where i can get the most up to date info? thanks for the help.
