It was my understanding that samsung put tv out on the epic and it was a seen option in the settings by some. However, apon the intial startup after purchasing an epic and running the 1rst update, that function was then removed. Now that I think about it, it possibly was always just a rumor so I was just wondering if someone with official froyo could check their settings. It should be an option right next to "about phone." or at least that's where it's located on the other carrier's galaxy s.

Also, anyone try the dock yet? Audio out?

lol, its not there nor did i hear it was gonna be. other galaxy phone have it and i read its being ported. cant answer othe question but you can google question.

The new release carries the newest i9000 market footprint, which doesn't seem to be in the list for protected apps yet.

I have been waiting for this update to come out officially before I buy a new phone and I was hoping that this thread would answer if it is worth getting the handset now. I had the Moment, for a moment, and I didn't like 1.5 or 2.1. they worked but, really... It seems as though the Epic is very similar UI wise to the Moment. I didn't want that on my "2nd gen" device. Is touchwiz 3 nice? Whats the dif?

I guess really what I need to know is if its now going to be better than the EVO.

Or should I just wait for the Echo duel core (which doesn't exist but in my dreams)?

if you like that hunk of crap/ugly echo then you would love the epic. how can anybody like that thing.

Touchwiz is alright, but this phone isn't comparable to the moment in any way, in terms of hardware, speed, bugs, etc..it's on another level.

You can install any 3rd party launcher, and Sammy's improvements in Touchwiz in calender and dialer are welcome too.

i was also waiting for the 2.2 update to upgrade to the epic but it just took so long. if it came out in december, i'd probably would have gotten the epic. but now its over 6 months since the phone came out and newer/better phones have been announced by the manufacturers that now, imo, doesn't make sense to get the epic or the evo. especially since sprint has decided to change the terms of their premier perks upgrade program.
i asked myself, do i want to be stuck with the epic (not really a negative since the epic is a great phone) for 2 years or wait a few more months and get a uber dual core phone, that won't have me envying another phone for a while. yes i realize there are always better phones coming out ever 6 months.
or
look into the best buy-buy back program. sell the phone back to best buy within 6 months to get 50% or 6-12 months to get 40% of the retail price of the phone back. epic 4g retails for $650, which means either $325 or $260 to buy a new phone. decisions...
