do u really see much of a difference from dk28, and awesome roms we already had??

i had it since this morning, i see not difference from my midnight rom.

am i missing something?? everything is the same as when it was stock

I used stock dk28 so I am seeing a big difference :/ lol..I think you need a 1.4ghz overclocked rom..then you'll see a HUGE difference lol..but yeah we mostly needed the fixed modem...

gps was already fixed. bluetooth worked well for me.

now that i think about it. the only thing i cared about fixing was the text messaging time stamp, that made my messages all get out of order.

also did they even update touchwiz?????????

has anybody noticed improved battery life yet? that is my main issue/concern...i seem to lose a % of battery w/ every text i send/get, i'm hoping that will change once i get this eagerly anticipated upgrade...

funny you ask cause i just ran and im still running a test on a battery thats been beat to hell but im @ 70% after 8hrs of moderate use now. some texts/calls/mms and lots of gaming online.

Major complaint so far is the Android Market is broken - not all of my previously installed free apps are listed. And a couple of my paid for apps won't install, because the Froyo Epic is not on the supported device list.

And because Google doesn't provide any customer support for the Android Market - there doesn't seem to be anybody to complain to about this. Samsung & Sprint say it's not there problem. And one of the app developers also says its an Android Market problem. But Google hasn't responded (yet) to my e-mail complaint about the issue.

Is anyone else seeing this type of problem? Or is it just isolated to my device???

Uhhhm, wierd. I've remained on midNIGHT 3.3, haven't changed a thing, haven't upgraded to EB13, aaannnnd when I got to the Market and click "My Apps" it only shows me my purchased apps (and I'm not 100% sure if it's showing me ALL my purchased apps)

....what happened to the market??

the market has never worked for restoring apps for me. thats why i use a back up program.

It was my understanding that samsung put tv out on the epic and it was a seen option in the settings by some. However, apon the intial startup after purchasing an epic and running the 1rst update, that function was then removed. Now that I think about it, it possibly was always just a rumor so I was just wondering if someone with official froyo could check their settings. It should be an option right next to "about phone." or at least that's where it's located on the other carrier's galaxy s.

Also, anyone try the dock yet? Audio out?

The new release carries the newest i9000 market footprint, which doesn't seem to be in the list for protected apps yet.

I have been waiting for this update to come out officially before I buy a new phone and I was hoping that this thread would answer if it is worth getting the handset now. I had the Moment, for a moment, and I didn't like 1.5 or 2.1. they worked but, really... It seems as though the Epic is very similar UI wise to the Moment. I didn't want that on my "2nd gen" device. Is touchwiz 3 nice? Whats the dif?

I guess really what I need to know is if its now going to be better than the EVO.

Or should I just wait for the Echo duel core (which doesn't exist but in my dreams)?

Touchwiz is alright, but this phone isn't comparable to the moment in any way, in terms of hardware, speed, bugs, etc..it's on another level.

You can install any 3rd party launcher, and Sammy's improvements in Touchwiz in calender and dialer are welcome too.

i was also waiting for the 2.2 update to upgrade to the epic but it just took so long. if it came out in december, i'd probably would have gotten the epic. but now its over 6 months since the phone came out and newer/better phones have been announced by the manufacturers that now, imo, doesn't make sense to get the epic or the evo. especially since sprint has decided to change the terms of their premier perks upgrade program.
i asked myself, do i want to be stuck with the epic (not really a negative since the epic is a great phone) for 2 years or wait a few more months and get a uber dual core phone, that won't have me envying another phone for a while. yes i realize there are always better phones coming out ever 6 months.
or
look into the best buy-buy back program. sell the phone back to best buy within 6 months to get 50% or 6-12 months to get 40% of the retail price of the phone back. epic 4g retails for $650, which means either $325 or $260 to buy a new phone. decisions...

well, im not gona repeat what others have already said, we all already know whats up
BUT
battery life..AWESOME!!!!
i left my fone off the charger last night with a low battery jus to see what wud happen. battery didnt die..in fact i went onlinethis morning for a while without a charge and came back home and the battery still wasnt dead!! had this been on DI18 or DK28, my fone wouldve died and i couldnt have made this post.
sprint and sammy fudged up the OTA...but that update.zip(91.1MB) from samsung's site is the fix. IMO, of course

& I just traded my Evo for an Epic + got some money out of the deal too, I'm officially here now lol!

my speed has been ok..I did a speedtest initially and it was crap because it was picking a server far away saying its close by for some reason..after I manually picked a closer server to test got 1.5mbit speed on 3g...

Thanks man, & I tell u what, battery life is superb, phone been off the charger since 7am & I'm at 55%, my Evo would've been dead already lol. I haven't even rooted my Epic yet & the battery life is amazing.
