app recommendations

hello everyone! I've had my touch pro 2 for about 2 years now (I think ) and in the next couple of weeks I will be getting an Epic. I was wondering if anyone can help me on some recommendations for apps that I'm currently using on winmo. I would think many of you were at one time or another a winmo user and have switched to android. This will be my first droid phone. I have played around a bit with an android rom on the tp2 but it was just too buggy for me. I've done some poking around in the android market for apps similar to ones I'm using now but got overwhelmed very quickly. Apps I use now are:
spb finance (I found expense manager and moneytracker in the market)
spb backup
psshutxp
s2u2 (I know it's not droid compatible, anything similar?)
memaid (not made for droid )
resco file explorer
resco registry editor
call surprise (changes ringtone on each incoming call)
magicall (ability to block, ignore, hangup on numbers so my phone never rings if I don't want that number to bother me)

there's probably others but those are the ones I use most and really want to have on droid. Thanks for any help!

well you can try those I guess..dont use this on my cell really :/

Quote:
spb backup
Titanium Backup, My Backup Pro and Clockworkmod(thats one of the tools we use to flash custom roms) has a backup functionality

Quote:
psshutxp
what functionality do you need exactly? you can shutdown by holding the power button..same a the TP2 except it actually works lol

Quote:
s2u2 (I know it's not droid compatible, anything similar?)
What functionality do you need? by default we have a slide to unlock with text messages and phone calls and etc on lock screen..or you want a different look?

Quote:
memaid (not made for droid )
You don't really need it..that and you probably could restart the phone and do a full boot faster then memaid runs on winmo lol

Quote:
resco file explorer
Astro File Manager and ES File Manager

Quote:
resco registry editor
The registry is a windows thing..Android is linux based so it just uses config files...

call surprise (changes ringtone on each incoming call)
not sure :/

magicall (ability to block, ignore, hangup on numbers so my phone never rings if I don't want that number to bother me)

Call Blocker Gold - Android app on AppBrain
Call Blocker X - Android app on AppBrain
Call Manager Pro - Android app on AppBrain
Call & SMS Filter - Android app on AppBrain
Call Filter Pro - Android app on AppBrain
Firewall; Call blocker, filter - Android app on AppBrain

Re: app recommendations

wow!! thanks so much!! You were probably more successful in your search as you knew what to look for! Or else you just already knew! As for the psshutxp, I want a quick option to reboot the phone, does holding down the power key do that or just turn off the screen? And s2u2, I like the customizations available and I like the look. I have a clear slide button so the average person can't unlock my phone unless they know where to slide.

I knew, for the magicall one I had to search ppcg as I answered that before so I copied and pasted the list I searched before..

When you click it it turns off screen, when you hold it you get a popup to go airplane mode or shut down or mute phone and 1 more option..dont remember off top of my head...

Well you can probably replace the image graphic with a transparent one manually I guess...there is also pattern unlock aka unless they know how to slide they cant open it..

If you want full customization..there is a paid app called widgetlocker..here:

AndroidSPIN » App Review: Widget Locker – A Powerful Lock Screen Replacement

Re: app recommendations

Quickboot is a great app for restarting your phone with options like boot to recovery, or bootloader.

since I don't yet have a droid phone, this might sound like a stupid question... but why would I need a sms app? doesn't it come with sms? or it is just something different?

same reason you may want to use a different web browser or email client..sms apps have features that make them more useful..not to mention customizations and personalization..the 2 most popular sms clients are hancent sms and chomp sms..I personally use hancent sms

also forgot to mention, you can achieve instant reset by holding the vol up+vol down+camera+power button
