They will never get another dime from me!

Froyo or no Froyo, the Epic is still one of the best, fastest and most powerful smartphones on the market. I agree with the "Who Cares" idea, but that's just because I have a custom Froyo ROM and have had for quite awhile. I have gotten really tired of waiting for the "official" release and really won't care too much once it comes out. But that doesn't mean that I don't love this phone. I do. And I will be getting the Galaxy S2 when it comes out. I believe that Sprint is behind the delay, not Samsung.

Well there is one bright side if official Froyo hits..

for one it will allow CM6 to finally be complete..this would then make porting CM7 easier...and that would give us Gingerbread...

Wirelessly posted (HTC Touch Pro2 (Sprint): Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.1-update1; en-us; SPH-D700 Build/ECLAIR) AppleWebKit/530.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/530.17)

I have to agree on Sprint delaying this. I'm still running Eclair due to the custom ROMs having their fair amount of bugs in them. Coming from a TP2 that took forever to see an update to 6.5, this isn't surprising. The 6.5 update sucked, but at least allowed our developers here to make some really good custom ROMs (which is what my wife is running on my old TP2 that she uses now).

So you think a different "rigorous testing method" was used at released for the shipping of stock 2.1 that had bad GPS, horrible upload speeds and other things I don't remember off the top of my head, compared to how they are testing now? PLEASE!!! This update will probably be far from perfect no matter how long they wait to release it, I just don't know why they keep delaying important fixes in any OS flavor.

If Microsoft is unable to perfectly create a stable, secure OS after 35+ years of experience, Samsung/Sprint isn't going to be able to find every bug and are just prolonging this for some unknown reason and are in cohoots together.

I'm calling shanaghans over this whole fiasco. The carriers should ban together and simply threaten to stop carrying Samsung phones due to lack of support. Then see how long it takes for a stable update to get released. For this reason alone, Sprint and Samsung are to blame here, I'm not going to single out on just one of them.

um... how would the carriers benefit from that? they wouldn't at all.

So if there wasn't an Epic available on Sprint, you wouldn't have an EVO or EVO shift then?

Any sales that would have gone to Samsung would then go to whoever is left in the mix.

It's not like we can take any phone anyway and make it work on Sprint. Trade Samsung for Kyocera, or at the very least make THEM think the subject is on the table, have the carriers unite. Samsung is only concerned with their bottom line, this could very well change their customer service stance, or actually create one.

you have given absolutely 0 reason for the carriers to do that there. They already got you to spend your money on the epic 4g. now they can say "next".

Guys, with or without the update, the Epic is still one of the best phones on the market even 5 months after it's release. It's not just the Epic that hasn't received its update, all US galaxy s customers are still waiting.
