Looks more promising than some of the past rumors, but then we Epic owners know disappointment so well. At least EB13 coming a week after the build date makes more sense than EA27 coming almost a month later.

hey gten the things 2.2 will bring what we dont have already from the above articles is bluetooth but will it also bring the touchwiz 3.0 update? Also ive read that on the galaxy s2 lines touchwiz was updated to 4.0 any way were gonna get that?

We get Touchwiz 3.0 yes..4.0 might come with Gingerbread..maybe...I saw a full change list for 2.2 let me see if i can find it

Here is what I'm hoping gets updated/changed/added.....


1. Android 2.2 froyo with full flash support an ability to move apps to SD card. After this long wait and the 2nd generation Galaxy S pones coming out, you can kiss Gingrbread future hopes goodbye

2. Touchwiz 3.0 - Mostly I like the new music application

3. TV Out - Whether it's through the 3.5 jack or Samsung's upcoming micro usb to hdmi cable. As long as it's full TV Out unlike the Evo. Other Galaxy S Carriers already have this feature

4. Bluetooth Upgrade - With Voice activated calling. Also, would be freaking sweet if we could also now connect a wiimote.

5. Samsung Dock audio fix. Dock comes with audio out however it is non-fuctional.

6. FM Radio- I know, yea right

7. GPS Fix

8. Wifi Connection fix

9. Charging Screen issue fix. Screen always lights up when it hits a full charge with a pop up tellling you the phone is charged. It won't shut off unless you tap "ok." Ths is extremly annoying cause I keep the phone next to my bed and the bright light always wakes me up!!!!!!!

I hope so. Seriously, this phone is the first phone I have ever had that I can see myself using well beyond my 2 year contract agreement. Steady software updates will strengthen that possibility.

If you want the OTA update, you have to be on stock DI18 and make sure that ALL the Sprint apps that were there when you bought it are still there. If you are simply rooted but haven't changed anything you will get the OTA update and it will install, but you will lose root. If you have removed ANY of the Sprint apps like NASCAR, Ashphalt 5, Sprint Navigation, etc. your phone will download the update but the install will fail. So if you are dying to have it, use Odin to go back to stock DI18 and just wait. Its going to roll out over a 4-day period.

My opinion is that we have waited this long, a few more days won't kill us. If the official release does come tomorrow you can bet we will have Clockwork flashable ROMS by Tuesday. I'm betting ptfdmedic will have midNIGHT 4.0 ready by the end of the week. I'm just gonna wait.

what about us running the Epic on boost mobile ? how do we get the update OTA also? or do we need a ROM flash type of thing? by the way i dont know crap on how to flash these android phones so thats why iam asking. i knew how to flash the TP2. but i only have this android epic for 2 weeks now. and has only been rooted and flash to boost. everything else still virging stock..

If you flashed it to Boost then you will probably not get anything OTA since it will be looking for Sprint software to update. You are just going to have to wait for someone to put out a Boost Mobile 2.2 ROM, just like you flashed to Boost the first time.

Thanks for this info, Johnny.Bravo. Also thanks to Darren for the stock apps files. And to Sdx Stock Apps Removal for keeping backups of stuff I removed. We'll see how it goes. Also WHEN it goes.

well the ROM its totally stock. what i ment flashed its the steps that were done for the ESN from boost a donor phone to the epic.. and also that it was rooted. but it has stock ROM from factory the Eclair stock ROM..

all you gotta do is get the update.zip and install it manually..you "might" have to re-provision the phone again but your ESN stays the same..

but how do i reprovison? so your saying that if i install this ROm or any ROM i will loose the profile info like the name IP , AAA , HA and all that stuff? if thats the case it sucks. since that means i have to send this phone to florida where i bought it by mail since they are the ones that have the donor phone. or if there is a way that i can do it my self... how can i do it then?

You dont have to send it back to florida if your settings where to get messed up its easy to fix them. ALso if you install a custom rom you wont loose those settings that your worried about everything will still work.
