Re: Epic Antenna Problems

I'm all for tearing stuff apart, but not my new epic, not quite yet anyway....I think I'd opt for a trip to the Sprint store before breaking out the screwdrivers.

Re: Epic Antenna Problems

I figured out my problem, it's not the antenna. At work and the surrounding area, I was in roam more often than not on my TP2. I realized that I'd never seen the roam indicator on this phone, so I did a little research. This Samsung phone apparently can't roam on the 1900mhz Verizon bandwidth prevalent in my area. About 5 miles away I got full bars on Sprint.

Re: Epic Antenna Problems

Hey Darren, just got my epic, and I'm pretty disappointed with the reception on it. I may check this out when I have some time.

Re: Epic Antenna Problems

Darren, I just tried to open up my epic, and there seemed to be something else holding the phone together besides the screws. I removed the 7 screws (three along top, two halfway down the sides and two along bottom) but I couldn't unstick the back. It seemed like there was something else holding the case together about halfway down. I was afraid I'd break the case. Any hints?

Re: Epic Antenna Problems

Weird that I'm answering my own posts, but I just found a take-apart video for the Epic. I'll try again tonight after work.

Re: Epic Antenna Problems

Update: I opened up the phone last night. A guitar pick works great as a non-marring tool to pry apart the case. Sadly, I didn't find any problems with the antenna connections. I think I'll go to the store monday and compare my phone against display epics and see if there is a big difference.
